End of the semester for Carroll College is here! It was a good break of studying for these students and it was a great day to ride with the sun to counterbalance the wind.

Yesterday was supposed to be 39-41 degrees for the monthly Cavaletti classes but the Weather man was wrong and it was 12 degrees!! Everyone braved the temperatures anyhow and came. It was another fun day with new things and lots of laughs.

Cavaletti challenge was followed by a jumper show and costume class. The costumes were all amazing and it was hard to pick a winner out of 20 or so riders!

The 3rd annual Halloween Horse show was a blast!A record amount of costumes (20??) , lots of fun rides and the jump decorations were the best ever. See you in Spring for the next show and I’ll have Cavaletti and jump days throughout the winter as much as we can! We had our first vendor and plan on having Mountain Valley Tack back next year.

Fun times at shows! All the horses were excellent. Timmy was tossed into the game last minute when Lucy had a slight injury and had to stay home. A month after buying him, his 2nd time in an indoor arena and first time over a ground pole hunter course, let’s do it!! He ended up winning all the English classes and 2nd in a big western. He also placed 3rd in a hard trail course with lots of people!
Payton and Maddie both rode Gypsy and did excellent. Payton is such a beautiful rider and getting so much confidence in the show ring.
Madeline is just getting into the show ring and doing well.
Ralph was perfect again and after a season of showing, is a seasoned pro now. He goes into the ring, does his job then comes out and takes a nap until the next class. He won the Ranch riding pattern class, all his English classes and won grand champion for the Horse show series!!!! Cheers to next year!

Ralph moved cattle for his first time and he had a blast! He has worked cows before and it showed in his confidence. He is also super smart and caddy. 2 weanling calves ran away from us up a three tiered cliff. I was looking at the situation to see how we’d get them down when Ralph bounded up right after them. After getting the cattle to the corrals and counted, it was discovered 4 were missing so everyone went back out to look for them. Ralph and I found them, this winning the best cowboy of the day award from the owner😆
He is such a smart guy. Winning championships in the show ring and being equally as good in the real working world of a horse!

It wasn’t too cold today for the Annual Halloween lesson kid show. Under the solar eclipse, these kids got to experience their first “show” experience and had a blast.

The rain stopped today long enough for a semi-private lesson! It’s been ba****ck the past 2 days to keep warmer since the temps dropped 30 degrees. Riders worked on using their legs and body to steer through some fun, challenging patterns.

The Jump into Summer horse show is a wrap! Good weather and lots of good riding. The scary jumps didn’t prove any problems even the pool noodle Gamblers Choice!
Look for the next show, Halloween themed in October. 🎃

A great first show of the season and first show for Wreck It Ralph. Payton showed Lucy for the whole show for the first time, not just one class like last year, and they did amazing together, placing well and Payton improved a ton since the last show. Look at her equitation and she’s only 8 years old. They placed 2nd in trail, won multiple firsts and Payton cantered Lucy for the first time in the ring in the Ranch Riding Pattern class. Lucy and Payton are officially a show team now.
Payton has passed Gypsy’s reins to Maddie. They rode in the Peewee division and also novice trail where they placed 6th over a very fun, challenging course. Gypsy did a real jump over the jump and Maddie was so excited to do her first jump!
Ralph was a perfect boy especially for being a 4 yo at his first show. His mind was on overload (he slept for 2 days afterwards) but he was great and is such a trusting horse. He’s trying to figure out the whole frame thing so with more work (10 rides total with him??) he’s going to be super fancy. Trail and the Ranch Riding pattern were the best events and so much fun.
Taylor rode Lucy to make sure she would be her best for Payton. Lucy is a sour patch kid, sour and sweet so it’s important to keep her focused on the good side and not be Lucifer. 🤣 They won most of their classes and did western classes for the 3rd time now. It’s still weird to be in a cowgirl hat….

You are never to young or old to learn about horses. I started both my daughters at 1 year old. I start pony ride lessons at for kids as young as 2 years old and have adults in their 70s riding weekly.
