Liniment: a liquid or lotion, especially one made with oil, for rubbing on the body to relieve pain.

This is me bottling up my newest batch, made from organic cane alcohol and organic olive oil, dried Comfrey, Yarrow, and St. Johnβs Wort from the Helena farm. Itβs a magical concoction. You rub it on places that hurt...even old injuries, and the hurt fades. Sometimes within a few minutes, a few hours, a few days, depending on the hurt.

Iβm grateful for my apothecary members here in Helena, Montana. I love making these organic and nourishing recipes to heal my fellow community members with plants we can grow right here in MT. This liniment will go in the Summer Wellness Kit, which will be distributed to my current members on the Summer Solstice.

This apothecary work beguiles me always. Seasonal and ever changing I am not in the groove until after I have dived in. Each time is a step into an abyss of new smells and logistics mixed in with the familiar. An act of knowledge and faith.

Self isolating at home had aspects to it that feel calming. A couple days ago, my partner, Adam, @adamfieldpottery helped me roll up my handmade soap for the Spring Wellness Kit I will distribute this week. So lovely to work with him. He adds a touch of tidy perfection that I love in his folding technique. #myboyfriendisanartist The wellness kit is a week late due to things outside my control. Nice to focus on the love and support in these times where so much can feel unknown. β€οΈβ€οΈβ€οΈ #organic #regenerativemedicine #helena #wildwillowwellness #wildwillowwellnessapothecary #montanamade #montana #helenamt #springwellnesskit #bearfat #soap #soapmaking #permaculture #farmher
The Indefinite Pause of an Era. This week I am cleaning up my two organic straw bale sites. In 2012 I began selling organic straw bales here in Helena. Iβd learned that straw bales are a wonderful mulch, garden supplement, mushroom host, and animal home insulation. However, conventional strawbales come with the danger of persistent herbicides like aminopyralid, clopyralid, picloram, or aminocyclipyrachlor. Persistent herbicide will kill your veggie garden for 10 years or more.
I needed organic, but they were impossible to find here in Helena. So, I got creative and hired a semi to bring a load down each year. I would take what I needed and sell the rest.
I loved using and selling these bales in my community. I met lots of people and learned a lot of gardening techniques!
My most recent organic bales were this heritage purple barley straw you see here.
I hope to sell again in the near future, but for now, I am letting go of this aspect of my Wild Willow Wellness enterprise while I figure out how to source smaller bales.

Loving the new cork tops, rather than using plastic. Cork comes from the bark of a tree, and there is potential for this to be a regenerative agricultural product, if managed using a permaculture systemic approach. #NervousSystem #FermentedShrub #TulsiAppleElderberryLindenLavendar
Bliss for me is when my 5 year old can administer the correct plant growing in our yard to heal her skin. β€οΈπ§π±ππ§ π
