Scientists observed a wild male orangutan repeatedly rubbing chewed-up leaves of a medicinal plant on a facial wound in a forest reserve in Indonesia.

It was the first known observation of a wild animal using a plant to treat a wound, and adds to evidence that humans are not alone in using plants for medicinal purposes.

For the first time, scientists observed a primate in the wild treating a wound with a plant that has medicinal properties.

Feeling so excited about our first dive into wild fermentation of beverages. This one has Wild Willow Wellness grown plums, sea berries, elderberries, buffalo berries and our local food forest grapes and pears. It’s delicious, light, and bubbly. In the past month I’ve been making the switch from espresso to matcha. Adam and I are going through IVF, trying to make a baby, and we’ve been at it for about 4 years, all said and done. We have an embryo transfer date set for September, and I am preparing my body. Green tea antioxidants and antioxidant polyphenols in matcha support a body preparing to carry a child in multiple ways. It’s not totally clear but it seems to have a positive balancing effect on hormones as well. It’s a delicious and calming ritual for me to have my morning cup while sitting outside or with my daughter as she awakens or Adam as we express morning gratefulness to one another. This weekend at the I got to see my lovely and longtime friend, , and purchase two of her recent mug creations. So special to drink an afternoon iced matcha in a cup depicting her in motherhood and the creatures in her unconscious surrounding her.
