🇺🇸 The Fourth of July can be a stressful and potentially dangerous time for cats due to fireworks, loud noises, and other holiday activities. Here are some safety tips to keep your feline friends safe:

1. **Keep Them Indoors**: Ensure your cat stays inside to prevent them from getting scared and running away due to loud noises.

2. **Create a Safe Space**: Set up a quiet, comfortable area where your cat can retreat. Include familiar items like their bed, toys, and a litter box.

3. **Close Windows and Curtains**: This helps to muffle the sounds of fireworks and prevents cats from trying to escape through open windows.

4. **Play Calming Music**: Soft music can help drown out the noise of fireworks and create a calming environment for your cat.

5. **Use White Noise**: A fan or white noise machine can also help mask the sounds of fireworks.

6. **Provide Distractions**: Engage your cat with toys or treat puzzles to keep them occupied and distracted from the noise outside.

7. **Keep Identifying Information Up to Date**: Ensure your cat’s collar has an ID tag with your current contact information, and consider getting them microchipped if they aren’t already.

🇺🇸 Keep them safe! Already, after the Saturday night fireworks, there have been so many dogs reported missing! 😢 And the fireworks aren't even over for the week. Pets are ONLY safe inside. Fences & gates are not foolproof for a scared dog! This applies to cats, too! 🐈‍⬛ Keep them inside and somewhere where they can't slip out a door.

20 minutes of colored lights in the sky is not worth years without your furry family member. And if they aren't microchipped yet (cats & dogs) get that done immediately, so at least you have a chance of getting them back. It's not expensive.

🚗 Be extra observant when driving because there are scared animals running around that have no concept of cars when they are scared. 🚕

Meet Davey!

This energetic guy LOVES to play fetch and chase the ball. He is looking for a home where he can get lots of love, exercise, and treats. Since Davey likes to be the center of attention, he may do best in a single pet home where he doesn’t have to share the spotlight. As an added bonus, he’s already learned a couple commands and would do well in obedience training.

📣🐾 MEET ROCKY! 🐾😽
This handsome 7 1/2-year-old boy was surrendered to us when his previous person passed away. Rocky had known nothing other than that person and home his entire life. When he came to us, he was petrified and refused to eat or drink anything, leading to our staff having to give Rocky special care. We discovered that Rocky had urinary crystals that created a blockage. If he hadn't received the emergency surgery that was performed, he would no longer be with us!

Rocky is a funny cat that loves to keep himself entertained. If you're looking for an independent, low-maintenance cat in your home, Rocky is the one for you. He's not a huge fan of toys and he doesn't like being held a whole lot, but he will cuddle on his own terms. He is a typically curious cat who likes to explore.

Why hasn't Rocky been adopted? With his urinary care diet that is required to keep anymore crystals from forming, not everyone is willing to adopt him. The special food is a little more expensive, but not a lot. We've had several people interested in Rocky until they've heard his story. We know there is a loving, caring person out there who will love to have Rocky join their home. 💛

🫶🏼 Fontana is awesome! It has been a fantastic start for us at the Fontana PetSmart at 15042 Summit Ave! So many kitties have already found forever homes with loving people in your community! As kitties get adopted we bring in more from our rescue, so you will always find kitties needing homes! We are available 7 days a week for you to adopt your new family member. 💜🐾

These kitties will find homes fast, so if you see someone you love from the pictures fill out an adoption application in advance (no obligation). Once approved we will schedule you a time to go inside the cattery to meet (and hopefully adopt) one or more of them. For the health of our kitties, only approved adopters can go inside the cattery.

We are also building our volunteer team to help care for the kitties while they wait for their forever homes. Volunteers sign up for 2 hour shifts and help maintain the kennels, play with and socialize the kitties, and help with adoptions. If you love cats, this is an awesome way to help give back, as well as a way to get to know more kitties. 🩷 We are looking for responsible volunteers age 16+. ☀🚗 HOT CARS KILL D0GS!!! In just a few minutes the temperature will rise high enough to cause serious illness, and in 5 minutes on a 90 degree day (even in the shade, even with the windows cracked), the temperature in the car can be FATAL! ☄️ At 103 degrees a dog will become hyperthermic, and at 106 degrees will start to suffer from heatstroke, which can cause brain damage, and even death!

🌡️♨️ Signs of heatstroke include heavy panting, glazed eyes, rapid pulse, staggering, vomiting, red or purple tongue. If you notice these signs, get your pup to a vet immediately. Fast action is critical!

🔸CRACKED WINDOWS DON'T HELP! Studies show that cracking a window does not change the inside temperature of a car by enough to make a difference. Even on a cloudy day, even in the shade, and even with the windows cracked, the car will still get too hot for your dog (or anyone else – child or other pet)!🔥🐕
