Many people may not realize that gardening can help with anxiety or PTSD. However, I am learning everyday that it does help. It helps with your mental state, because you are learning and nurturing something that is growing. This something will then turn around and nurture you. The daily struggle is real and for many they walk around not knowing where to turn fighting the battle internally. If you need help find someone you can talk to. If you are uncomfortable with that, find a hobby that allows your mind to relax and heal.

I deal with PTSD and I personally know the loneliness and how empty that feeling can be. I am not a counselor, nor am I trying to be one. I am simply trying to use my experience and the things I have done in order to reach at least one person.

Take care of one another! You have no idea what a simple smile or hello may do for a person you see and do not know.

I deal with a form of PTSD that I do not talk about and have been embarrassed to talk about. I have only spoke about it to two people. My best friend and his step father, a Vietnam vet. One day I will open up about it and let you all in. But today I am slowly peeling the onion back. I am not fully comfortable about opening up yet. However, through this gardening community and helping others I will get there. I am doing ok, but I am finally getting to a place I need to talk about it....Slowly!

Does everyone realize that if we all planted a small garden that none of us would be able to eat all of the food that would be produced? Think about that. If we all planted a garden we would be able to feed everyone in our area and neighborhood. This would provide fresh fruits and veggies to everyone. The cost would be next to nothing. I wonder why we all think we need to rely on someone else, in order to help others.

Gardening, urban farming or community gardens can be a good way to heal. I had been away from the farm and that kind of life for a long time. I am beginning to realize that being outside and working the land is a great therapeutic method for the stressors that I deal with on a daily basis.

It is a generally accepted fact that once soil temperatures drop below 45°F (7°C), biological activity slows to a crawl, and the soil and all its life forms hibernate through winter. By this logic, soil cannot be expected to change for the better during the winter months, and yet it does when give...

As fall is quickly approaching, I would like to take this time and tell everyone thank you for the follow in the last few months.
Most may be into harvesting their garden or soon will be and I know everyone is busy. In the spring I will be right there will you. Planting and preparing our garden. Most know that I recently moved to the SW US and was unable to plant this year.
