Any rescue not screened/approved as a rescue partner through RCAPS will not receive sponsorship funds. This includes going directly through the shelter to rescue an animal(s). These funds will be applied to vetting animals who do not have sponsorship. Animals adopted from the shelter, their sponsorship funds will also

be applied to other unsponsored dogs or cats in need. ALL POSTED ANIMALS ARE LOCATED AT THE VANCE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER.

🐶Cindy Lou🥰

This sweet little girl was found running loose near the railroad tracks in town..luckily for her a concerned citizen found her and brought her to the shelter.

Cindy Lou is an absolute snuggle bug. She loves loves LOVES to be held and cuddle. She's a pretty quiet puppy and enjoys napping in a soft bed. We are not sure what mix of breeds little Miss Cindy Lou is, but she is only 6 weeks old and already weighs over 8lbs.

Cindy Lou has been vaccinated, dewormed, and flea/tick treated. She is too young to be spayed, but that will be included in her adoption

🔔Carol & Star🌟

These sweet babies were brought to the shelter as strays. They were a little hissy at first, but are already coming around. Star has the cutest short tail. There is no injury and it was not cut, it's just a tiny fluffy tail. Carol is definitely the braver of the 2 and doesn't hide like Star does.

These sweet girls are 6 weeks old, up to date on shots and FELV/FIV negative. They are too young to be spayed, but that is included in their adoption.

Figgy is such a sweetheart who loves to hang out on top of his cat box. He sure would love a cat tree where he can look out of a window and sun bathe. He will be shy at first, but loves lovin', he's a mild laid back kinda guy for an 8 month old. Figgys letter to Santa was short & sweet; A home filled with love 🐾❤️. 12/4/24 FiV/Felv- negative.

Mr. Figgy was a stray. He came into the shelter with Clove and another cat. Figgy is more reserved than his siblings. He is unsure about attention at first, but melts when you pet him.

Figgy is 8 months old and vaccinated. He is not neutered yet, but will be when adopted. His FELV/FIV test is negative.

15 dogs/puppies and 40 cat/kittens were so blessed to go to rescue last Monday! We need to raise the money for their pull fees , health certificates and travel expenses. All of that comes to $2088.

Hissy Kittens just tug on my heart strings yall! 💖 When you're adding a new kitty/cat please remember what you see at the shelter is not always an accurate view of them in a home, they take time to decompress in any environment/lifestyle change, and when you put in just a tad more work/effort on an animal the reward is TENFOLD! *Disclaimer- I've worked in this field for nearly 10 years, not to mention being blessed with a unique childhood, and being raised around a variety of animals. Judging body language, behavior, and YES a little RISK or lack of common sense -so I've been told- determines if I feel comfortable going in with my hand. There are times I initially start with a stick cat toy, or cat gloves, or the empty sleeve to my sweatshirt. Please don't attempt to handle cats you do not know. Our Story

PLEASE DONATE TO HELP THE HOMELESS ANIMALS OF VANCE COUNTY AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES!

In 2010, over 3700 dogs and cats were impounded at the Vance County shelter, according to the 2010 Public Animal Shelter Report. Of those, 74 percent of the dogs and 93 percent of the cats were euthanized, either by gas chamber or by heart stick. Since RCAPS started working with the Vance County shelter in 2011, thousands dogs and cats have been saved. Now, close to 95 percent dogs and 70% of cats impounded at the shelter are adopted or rescued.

Ruin Creek operates with only a small group of volunteers and is funded almost entirely by donations from concerned animal lovers. We do our best, despite our limited funding, to save every animal impounded at the Vance County animal shelter. Among our other activities, we provide emergency medical care to animals who arrive at the shelter ill or injured, we advocate for the animals and connect them to rescue groups, and we arrange for the testing and health certificates needed to get them to rescue. Every Friday night our Freedom van, loaded by RCAPS volunteers, carries dozens of animals from kill shelters in Vance and surrounding counties to rescues between North Carolina and New York.
