Any rescue not screened/approved as a rescue partner through RCAPS will not receive sponsorship funds. This includes going directly through the shelter to rescue an animal(s). These funds will be applied to vetting animals who do not have sponsorship. Animals adopted from the shelter, their sponsorship funds will also

be applied to other unsponsored dogs or cats in need. ALL POSTED ANIMALS ARE LOCATED AT THE VANCE COUNTY ANIMAL SHELTER.

Wednesday and Thursday 2 high priority dogs started their new life and got to say Goodbye to the shelter! We are so excited for them and grateful to the rescues that made this possible! THANK YOU!! ❤️ 🐾 Although not mentioned in the video we want to be sure this guy isn't left out. LeeRoy, who was adopted then surrendered, got his second second chance! Those soulful deep eyes, were sparkling Thursday morning when he got to leave with rescue.. but he wasn't alone 🥹 Ladybug 🐞 got to start her new life too. After tragically going into preterm labor and her babies stillborn, she was visibily shutting down. So I decided to get her out of the shelter and take her home to foster. Although she only stayed with my family 3 nights, she left spoiled rotten. Enjoyed a needed spa bath from my 14yr old daughter, constant scratches from two 10yr old boys, and nightly couch cuddles sandwiched between me and my supportive man. 💫Seriously, he deserves a shout out too for not only agreeing to all my "so babe there's this animal that needs a foster" calls but also being very involved and showing them lots of love and patience.💫 Ladybug and LeeRoy were quite adorable playing in the office, saying their farewells and showing their excitement before being loaded up to start their new journey! Lil Dude 😎 has been waiting since September to start his happily ever after. Wednesday Lil Dude showed off his GIGANTIC personality. His playful, bubbly, short Lil legs could not be resisted. Rescue came to look at a different dog that unfortunately wasn't going to workout. Instead of fixating on what wouldn't work I asked if she wanted to meet a cool Lil Dude. Our Story

PLEASE DONATE TO HELP THE HOMELESS ANIMALS OF VANCE COUNTY AND SURROUNDING COUNTIES!

In 2010, over 3700 dogs and cats were impounded at the Vance County shelter, according to the 2010 Public Animal Shelter Report. Of those, 74 percent of the dogs and 93 percent of the cats were euthanized, either by gas chamber or by heart stick. Since RCAPS started working with the Vance County shelter in 2011, thousands dogs and cats have been saved. Now, close to 95 percent dogs and 70% of cats impounded at the shelter are adopted or rescued.

Ruin Creek operates with only a small group of volunteers and is funded almost entirely by donations from concerned animal lovers. We do our best, despite our limited funding, to save every animal impounded at the Vance County animal shelter. Among our other activities, we provide emergency medical care to animals who arrive at the shelter ill or injured, we advocate for the animals and connect them to rescue groups, and we arrange for the testing and health certificates needed to get them to rescue. Every Friday night our Freedom van, loaded by RCAPS volunteers, carries dozens of animals from kill shelters in Vance and surrounding counties to rescues between North Carolina and New York.
