We apologize we unexpectedly had to close the store today 12/31 and will not be returning until Monday 1/3/2022.

We will be making deliveries Sunday 1/2/2022 of any orders placed Friday and Saturday.

With fall right around the corner, it's that time of year again, when humans want pumpkin spice EVERYTHING ☕🍂

But did you know that pumpkin is actually great for dogs too? If your dog is having digestion problems, a couple tablespoons of 100% pumpkin filling mixed with their food can go a long way. Pumpkin is also vitamin and mineral rich, an excellent prebiotic, and is, in general, considered a "superfood" for dogs.

Our fifth and final Pet Wants Treats & Training session is one you'll ❤️

We're pairing Pet Wants Freeze-Dried Chicken Hearts with the classic Stand trick. Unlike many freeze-dried treats, our chicken hearts are not pressure treated and are made from responsible sourced chickens here in the USA.

Your dog will be glad to stand at attention to get one of these treats! To teach them how, follow the instructions below.

1. With your dog sitting in front of you, hold a treat in front of their nose.

2. Slowly move the treat up and have your dog follow it.

3. Once your dog is on their hind legs, use the cue "stand," praise them and offer the treat as a reward.

4. Repeat until your dog will do the trick on cue, without the need to follow the treat as it rises.

This week's Pet Wants Treats & Training session involves a super simple trick that your dog will basically do automatically once they see/sniff the treat you hold out for them: Pet Wants Signature Chicken Jerky. Made by slicing chicken breast, dehydrating, and packaging with no added steps or additives - this treat is simple (like the trick), but super high in protein and nutrients.

To help your dog master the "which one" trick, follow the instructions below.

1. Hold Pet Wants Signature Chicken Jerky in one of your hands and show it to your dog

2. Close the treat in your hand after your dog has seen it and hold both of your fists in front of you (about 4-6 inches apart)

3. Say, "Which one?"

4. Your dog may try to earn the treat by licking your hands, but do not offer the treat until they use their paw

5. Once your dog has touched the correct hand with their paw, offer the treat along with lots of praise

6. Continue to practice the trick until your dog consistently touches the correct hand with their paw on cue

Our Story

In most cases, our animals spend their entire lives with us and it’s our responsibility to make sure they are healthy and cared for. I’m Shawn Aberman, the local owner of Pet Wants Henderson, and I opened this business because I saw an opportunity to help families in my area give their pets fresh, high-quality food with free, convenient, personal delivery. Pet Wants’ carefully developed proprietary pet food is slow-cooked in small batches with fresh, high-quality ingredients once per month, so every kibble is guaranteed to be fresh and packed with nutrition. We have a variety of food blends for dogs and cats as well as healing salve, calming balm, anti-itch spray, paw wax, and more, all of which are available with free, personal delivery to pet families in Henderson and South Central Las Vegas. Prior to opening Pet Wants Henderson, I spent 15 years as a banker, five years in the restaurant business, and a few years in retail before that. We are Sabbath observant and there weren’t many opportunities in this 24/7 town that fit my skill set and enabled me to be off on Saturdays, so I was looking for a new opportunity when I came across Pet Wants. We eat Kosher and are very careful about what we put in our bodies, so why shouldn’t we feel the same way about our pets? In the Bible, it says that if you have animals, you have to care for them first. They depend on you. That’s directly in line with what we do at Pet Wants. I’ve fed my animals cheap food when money was tight – I get it – but feeding them high-quality food really makes a difference. The right nutrition can help animals live longer, healthier lives. I own Pet Wants Henderson with the support of my wife, Selima Aberman, a GI Nurse, and our five children. We’ve had 20 pets over the last 18 years and currently live with one Shephard Shar Pei mix (Kelev), one Saint Bernard mix (Leo), five Russian Blue cats (Rose, Thorn, Spike, Gizmo, and Zion), and a Green Wing Macaw (Valcore). We just have a crazy love for animals and we’re looking forward to translating that into our work with Pet Wants.
