❤️ As the final day of the week approaches, we have some very special team members to celebrate.

🎉 Our Veterinary Client Coordinators are the faces and voices of our hospital. They also maintain our schedule and communications, acts as client doctor liaisons and manage traffic within the hospital. Our VCCs help keep everything running smoothly and efficiently. We couldn't do it without them!!

🐾 Stephanie (VCC/Vet Assistant)

Stephanie is not only our most senior VCC, she is also one of our veterinary assistants. She has been trained in emergency medicine, and this additional skill set has proven absolutely invaluable to us. Stephanie's ability to multitask in any situation or setting truly sets her apart. Stephanie's commitment to Sage cannot be underestimated- she is our surgery scheduler, trainer, accounts manager, veterinary assistant/triage nurse- the list goes on. Additionally, her empathy and compassion to animals and owners in need shines through every day. During the hurricane aftermath, Stephanie drove to the Rutherford airport to pick up much needed medications for our patients in need. We are forever grateful for her dedication and we consider ourselves lucky to have Stephanie on our team.

🐾 Allison (VCC)

Allison joined our VCC team this year, without previous veterinary medicine experience, but you would never know that now! Allison is an incredibly fast learner who is a natural with client communications and software management. She is incredibly efficient and able to handle high stress situations while remaining calm and collected. Her work ethic, proficiency and positive attitude have made her an invaluable addition to our VCC team!

🐾 Kim (VCC)

Kim brings several years of veterinary client service experience to the table. She is able to multitask while still maintaining patience and kindness. We know our clients are in excellent hands when Kim is managing the front. We are so happy she chose to join our team!

🐾 Tricia (VCC)

Tricia is our newest addition to the VCC team, but she has been in veterinary medicine for many years and brings a plethora of knowledge with her. She has an upbeat and positive personality that clients love and appreciate. Thank you for joining our team, Tricia!

🐾 Autumn (Kennel assistant)

We also wanted to take a moment and recognize our kennel assistant, Autumn. Autumn helps keep our hospital clean and organized. She also jumps in whenever needed to assist medical staff. During our power outage, Autumn offered us her generator, which allowed us to keep our doors open. Thank you for joining our team, Autumn!

Today we recognize our amazing veterinary assistants! Our assistants are all highly skilled, and they each have passions and interests that set them apart. Sage is lucky to have each and every one of them! 💚🐾

✨ Lexis
Lexis has been a veterinary assistant for over 7 years. She has been with Sage since the day we opened our doors. Lexis is known not only for her technical skills, but her kindness and compassion with pets and pet owners. Lexis is also trained in abdominal ultrasound and echocardiograms.

✨ Maddie
Maddie is a seasoned veterinary assistant with a diverse background. She is not only a highly trained assistant- she also has training in horticulture. She is responsible for maintaining our outdoor plants and landscaping design. Maddie is gifted with nervous and anxious dogs and is passionate about low-stress handling.

✨ Katie
Katie has been with Sage since last fall but has been in veterinary medicine for several years. She is known for her immense compassion and empathy towards all animals and their owners alike. She often assists Ciara in dental cleanings- taking radiographs and scaling and polishing teeth. Katie's kindness and her love of animals shines through every day.

✨ Lori
Lori has been in veterinary medicine for over 20 years. She brings a wealth of knowledge to Sage. She is especially gifted with feisty cats and sees the best in them! Her calming presence helps everyone feel more at ease.

✨ Chelsie
Chelsie has worked in a veterinary emergency ICU for several years. She brings an incredible breadth of knowledge and skills to Sage. She works the majority of the week at the local ER, but we are lucky to have Chelsie as one of our main surgery nurses on Tuesdays.

✨ Courtney
Courtney is a veterinary assistant but also a current RVT student. She is also our inventory manager. Courtney also has experience in human medicine, which has helped her pick up technical and phlebotomy skills incredibly fast.

✨ Ashley
Ashley is currently an RVT student at Appalachian State. She has also worked for us as a Veterinary Client Coordinator. She has already become an invaluable member of our team. We are looking forward to watching Ashley continue her RVT journey.

✨ Kaela

We would like to take today to highlight our registered veterinary technicians. 🩺🐾

To become registered, a technician must graduate from an accredited veterinary technician program. This challenging 2-year curriculum includes classroom and practical training. After graduation, they must pass an arduous state board exam. Veterinary technicians are expected to maintain their license and complete continuing education.

We are lucky to have Miranda Cope, Ciara Eckert and Emily Slagle on our team. We look to them for leadership and to share their knowledge and skill set.

Thank you for choosing to be a part of the Sage family! 💚

🐾 As we mark the first day of Veterinary Technician Week, we want to acknowledge that it won't be the same as years past.
Several of our staff are still coping with the aftermath of Helene's destruction, but we look forward to a week of celebration within the hospital ♥️

⚕️Veterinary medicine is a team sport -with every position providing value and essential support to the hospital as a whole.

✨ The medical team is led by our registered veterinary technicians, who must complete an intensive 2 year degree and pass a challenging licensing exam. Our veterinary technicians have also received advanced training in anesthesia, dentistry, ultrasound and even practice management.

✨ Our veterinary assistants are essential to our client and patient experience, assisting our RVTs in surgery, and taking care of hospitalized patients. Additionally, many of our assistants have developed unique and specialized skills that set our hospital apart. This includes animal behavior, ultrasound, and nutrition.

Every day this week, we will showcase different staff members within Sage and what makes them unique.

❣️ For today, we say thank you to our team as a whole. We are proud of every one of you for your strength, dedication and selflessness.

Just wanted to check in with an update ♥️

We are so appreciative of everyone's well wishes and concern for our staff - everyone is doing well and returning to work next week 🥰

🕕 Our hours for the week of October 14th will be Monday through Friday 9am to 5pm.

We will return to normal hours the week of October 21

🐾We continue to be overwhelmed by the generosity of our fellow veterinary hospitals and rescue organizations. Donations have been shipped from Indiana, Alaska, Texas and central and coastal North Carolina.

We are using these items locally and also diverting needed supplies to highly impacted areas of WNC.

✳️If you have been financially impacted by the storm and are in need of Rx or regular food, please come by our office. We can help 😊

If you need anything, please do not hesitate to call us at 828-392-8800 or email [email protected].

❤️ We are overwhelmed with gratitude by the efforts and generosity of several organizations this week.

💕 Silver Snout Senior Dog Rescue out of Indiana coordinated and organized donations to fill a 26 foot truck and then 2 volunteers drove it over 11 hours to meet us.

💕 Advance Veterinary Care and Kind Care Animal Hospital out of Myrtle Beach gathered medical supplies and Rx food that was picked up and delivered to us by Dr. Julie's father.

💕 Dr. Hes, as well as students from University of Tennessee Veterinary School, collected cars full of medical supplies, including much needed insulin, and food from local veterinary clinics in Raleigh, Knoxville and other surrounding areas.

🐾 These donations included medication and supplies, dog and cat food (OTC and Rx) , crates, blankets, water and more. It was more than we could store, so we partnered with Blue Ridge Humane Society and we dropped off the OTC food, crates and blankets for them to use and distribute.

⚕️ We now have a room full of medical supplies and Rx food that can start being distributed to organizations and individuals in need around our area.

We thank all of you for your time, efforts and resources. Our hearts are full ♥️

✨ For our community, if you are facing hardship and need Rx or regular pet food, please reach out to us. We can help thanks to these generous humans 🥰

We want to thank our community for their support and love during this difficult time. ♥️

While all of our staff are currently safe and have shelter, one of our veterinary assistants, Lexis, went through a harrowing ordeal when her house flooded. She, her husband and pets were stranded in the water in kayaks for several hours.
They lost their home, vehicles and all of their belongings.
Lexis has been with our clinic since we opened and her warm and loving personality shines through every day.
We are looking to give her any support and help we can.

If you are inclined and able to help support one of our own, we have provided her GoFundMe link below.

Thank you again for your patience and help during this time ♥️

Hello! We are raising emergency funds for my niece and friend, Le… Christine Howell needs your support for Help Lexis and Brice recover from Hurricane Helene!
