Pets are allowed in our main market area, but are not allowed into the u-pick orchards. The last u-pick wagon leaves at 3:30 on Saturdays and Sundays. If you would like to participate in u-pick or to take a wagon ride, please arrive and board a wagon by this time.

Did you know that Jeter Mountain Farm carries a history of farming dating back to 1813, but historically was not an apple orchard?

Our family had the privilege of planting the first apple trees on the farm in 2014, and watched our dream (and trees!) grow until the farm opened for its first u-pick season in fall 2020. We now have around 5,500 hand-planted apple trees producing on the farm, and receive so much joy in sharing our fruit with the community around us each year! 🍎

What does "Off season" look like here at the farm? Well, so far we have been pretty busy!

As soon as u-pick season ends, our planning jump starts for the next. Goals are set, projects are started, and we get the opportunity to host some beautiful events!

In addition to hosting 9 weddings, we also have pressed 8,500 gallons of fresh juice during the month of November, which is currently fermenting in preparation for next season.

It takes year-round work to be ready for each season, but we sure do enjoy what we get to do! 🍎

That's a wrap! Season 4 is in the books, and our hearts are overwhelmed with gratitude. Thank you to everyone who visited us this year - for the memories that were made, encouraging words that were shared, and farm fun that was had. It has been an incredible season, and we are so thankful for everyone who was able to be a part of it.

We also cannot say enough about the team we have around us who help make the farm what it is. Our family loves what we have the privilege of doing each year at the farm, but who we get to work alongside is truly the source of so much of our joy each season, and we know they have such an impact on our visitors as well!

As a reminder, the season has ended for the year, which means all orchards, the Market, The Cider Barn, The Coffee House, The 1813 Food Truck, The Play Area, the Bakery and everything that we offer each fall will be closed until mid-July 2024.

We are already looking forward to next season, and already dreaming of ways to make the experience at the farm even better than it was this year. Thank you so much of being a part of this journey with us, and we hope to see you next summer! 🍎

It is our last day of the season! We will be picking all over our orchards today, taking advantage of the multiple late varieties left throughout the farm. Because of this, we cannot guarantee at which point in the day we will be picking a particular variety, but we promise they are all great 😉

Join us for today from 10-5! If you want to pick apples, you need to purchase your basket before 3:30, but the sooner you arrive the better to ensure there are plenty of apples left to pick. 🍎

Have you ever wondered why we only pick a few varieties of apple each weekend?

At the beginning of each week, our farmers hand test the brix sugar levels of our apples. This is how we are able to determine if our apples are at peak ripeness and ready to be eaten. We are committed to only sending our visitors home with the absolutely best quality apples, and sometimes that may mean waiting an extra week or so before starting to pick the next variety! 🍎

It’s canning day at the farm! Did you know that All Jeter Mountain Farm Hard Ciders are picked, pressed, fermented, and canned on-site? It doesn’t get more home grown than that. Can’t wait to open our taproom doors again this July!

We had a great time spending the day with Amy Lynn & Daytime Tri-Cities a few weeks ago for their Fields & Farms series. So grateful to have had the opportunity to share a bit of our family's story, and for the beautiful footage of the farm they were able to capture! 🍎

📣 Calling all children! 📣 We have something new this season just for you! Come play with us this fall! Climb the rock wall to our Jeter Mountain Turbo Tractor, scale the giant hay mountain, decorate the inside of our blacklight chalk house, bounce on our tire trampolines and MORE! Our brand new 6,000 square foot indoor play area lets you have fun rain or shine, and features a bar top overlook where moms and dads can sip on hard cider and enjoy the view. The play area opens up along with our u-pick season on Friday, July 23 from 10-5 and Saturday, July 24 from 9-3. Planting Apple Trees

We’ve been busy planting new apple trees! It takes about 4 years before an apple tree begins producing fruit, so we have to plan ahead when we want to expand our orchards! 🍎

Pruning is our biggest off-season task! Our biggest trees require up to 500 cuts on a single tree, and our farm is home to over 5,200 of them! Pruning accomplishes a number of things, including allowing air flow into the tree and keeping moisture out - which protects the health of both the trees and the fruit it produces. It also thins the tree out, allowing it to produce bigger, higher quality fruit rather than a larger quantity of small fruit. You will notice that sticks are also added to keep the branches of the trees growing at the correct angle. This encourages the tree to produce more fruit while also ensuring it is at an angle strong enough to support a heavy harvest. This also keeps the fruit at a better height for picking! 🍎

Farm Facts: Laying Plastic

It's tomato time at Jeter Mountain Farm! Even though we won't harvest until the mid-July, we have begun to prepare to plant one of the largest crops we produce here at the farm. 🍅 But before we can think about planting, we have to prepare the fields. This is done by using a rotavator to grind the dirt so it is fine and soft - the right condition for planting our tomatoes. Then we have to create beds of dirt and cover them in a thin sheet of plastic. The plastic covering the beds helps meet the many needs of a healthy, growing plant. It helps manage weeds, contains the water and fertilizer our irrigation system delivers, and creates a warm greenhouse environment so the plants can flourish. Sounds easy enough, right? Believe it or not, achieving this first step is a LOT of work! Farm Facts: Fertilization

Since we can't invite you to the farm right now, we figured we would try to bring the farm to you! Even though our apples and other fruits & vegetables aren't ready until the late summer & fall, we work on them all year long. From planting to pruning to pollination, we want to invite you into the farming process, and give you a few tips for your gardens and fruit trees at home along the way! In this first video, we introduce the process of FERTILIZATION - a HUGE task we have to do each year, requiring us to spread fertilizer around each of our trees by hand. If you have young fruit trees of your own at home, this is something you could consider doing as well in order to help the root system get established and strong enough to provide the tree with the nutrients it needs.

Settled on 411 acres in the Blue Ridge Mountains, and located just minutes from downtown historic Hendersonville, Jeter Mountain Farm has been an active farm in Henderson County since 1813. Farming goes back 150 years in our family, and we have worked hard to create a place where your family can feel at home to build traditions and memories as well. When you visit our farm, we hope laughter will fill your wagon ride out to our orchards, and that your family will be delighted to fill your baskets with the berries, peaches, pumpkins, grapes and over 23 varieties of apples that we grow. As you enjoy fresh-pressed cider, nibble warm apple cider donuts and observe how our cider is made, we hope it is evident how highly we value excellence when creating the products we serve. As your children discover all of our fun fall activities, we hope memories are made that will carry with them as they grow.
