🚨Invertebrate Spotlight🚨
Maxima Clam (Tridacna maxima)
Also known as the small giant clam because they are one of the smallest species of the giant clam family with an average length of 11-12”. They are a filter feeder so they siphon water through their body where it is then filtered in order to extract phytoplankton from the water column. Even though it is a filter feeder, the maxima clam gets most of its nutrients photosynthetically through zooxanthellae. So intense lighting and water flow is a must. Stability is also key. Low nitrates and phosphates.

🚨Invert Spotlight🚨
Tiger pistol Shrimp gets to be about 1.5”-2”
They have a symbiotic relationship with shrimp gobies from the genera Stonogobiops (Yashia or Hi Fin red banded) or Amblyeleotris (Randall prawn or wheelers. Also yellow watchman gobies. They will often share the same burrow together.
Be cautious of large predatory fish, larger hawkfish and wrasses‼️
