It’s only Tuesday morning meaning the weekend is still just out of reach but this is great news for our current office foster cat, Tony Bologna. Having us all in the office means we are all at here to entertain him! Tony Bologna is three years old and loves attention. He can be sweet and cuddly but also loves a lot of playtime to help stimulate his mind and keep his body active. Tony Bologna might do well as a working cat to keep him moving. Today kicks off our favorite month for showering gratitude on all the people that help us carry out our mission. We couldn't do what we do without an incredible network of volunteers, donors, shoppers and all around supporters of Blue Ridge Humane Society.

It's Foster Appreciation Week and our Foster Care Manager Emmy Smith has a special message for our foster volunteers. Our foster volunteers open their homes and their hearts to care for animals who are waiting to go to their next home, or just need a break from our Adoption Center for a few days. Emmy ensures all of our foster volunteers have the supplies they need and resources for support while they are taking care of our animals.

Our #fosterfriday feature is the incredible team of kitten foster volunteers currently supporting us during a very busy kitten season!
"We currently have 41 kittens in foster care. These wonderful people share their homes, their time, and their energy all for the love of kittens. The generosity and compassion that stems from every one of them is so infectious. BRHS provides the supplies and vet care. Some of my fosters will go buy supplies with their own money, and tell me to use the supplies for others in need. It has been so rewarding to work with this amazing group of people. What to Do if You Find Kittens
"What do I do if I find lost kittens?"
We get this question a lot this time of year.
Unless the kittens appear to be injured, your best bet is to leave them. Mother cats will care for their young, but often avoid human interaction. If they are injured, take them to emergency vet care if you can handle them. You can also call Animal Control for assistance at 828-697-4912.
