I got an update from Birdies family and they are doing amazing!

They told me they had company over and Birdie was an excellent host! She stayed on place when the door bell rang and when they came in. She was very excited but was able to stay focused and stay on command! I am so proud of her and her family! Being able to hold commands when there are big distractions, like having visitors over, is such an important life skill to have!

THIS IS A SCAM. RACC will never call you asking for money and we are looking into fraudulent use of our number through City channels. Please DO NOT engage and we are so sorry for this inconvenience!

The girl who I’m sure needs no introduction- Miss Schatzi! Or as I call her Shots-for-Tots (not sure why) is here for a refresher!

Schatzi trained with me in November of 2022 and she has been here regularly for Daycare or Boarding ever since! If you’re never watched my stories and seen a white blur dart across the screen then you’ve seen Schatzi before!

Your dog’s training follows the rules of “use it or lose it”. When the commands/structure go we can see old behavioral issues come back as well. Life has been hectic for Schatzis family and understandably they haven’t been able to give her the structure she needs. So we’re seeing some old behaviors like reactivity and anxiety come back. She’s here for a retrain to get back on track!

This can happen to anyone, while our dogs are our whole world… life does what life does and it can be hard to juggle everything. I’m so happy to get to spend this extra time with Schatzi and help her get back to the best version of herself!

I saw Miss Onyx again today for Puppy Program!
🐾
This little girl is just FULL of personality! She is very smart but what she wants to do is her top priority annnnnnd she’s not bothered by what her owners would like from her. Today we continued to talk about fine tuning her schedule to make sure she’s getting enough playtime while still being strict enough with her potty training. In addition to that we started playing a game where we wait for her to offer the behavior we want (sit) before rewarding. This is different than food luring because we aren’t helping her at all, just waiting. I think this game will be very beneficial for her because it’s teaching her to problem solve and (I hope) showing her that trying to do things to “please us” gets her a reward vs her just being in Onyx La La Land!

Additionally I am so excited to announce that she will also be doing Puppy Boarding with me in a few weeks! So she’ll stay with me for the week so we can really make sure her potty routine is where it needs to be! Every puppy is different and Miss Onyx needs a little extra help getting to where we need her to be. So by spending the week with me we can fully dive into it and send her home on a good schedule!

Bigfoot is loving life at my parents house! 💛
I am so proud of my parents because they have been doing a great job with his training and his 90-Day Protocol! They have obviously seen my training since the beginning but this is their first time getting to actually use the training and have a fully trained dog! I love getting updates and seeing all my fosters (and clients) living their best lives at home after their training program!

I got to see Tucker back for Puppy Program today!

Today we talked about food luring games for his dad to play with him to try and build “relevance” and their relationship. Right now when he takes Tucker for a walk, Tucker is focused on anything and everything other than his dad. Between food luring games and temporarily not allowing people to interact with Tucker on walks we can hopefully help him pay a little more attention to his dad while also trying to prevent reactivity!

I got to see Onyx again for Puppy Program today!

Potty training has been the biggest challenge with her so far, but I am so happy that they are really starting to see progress with that now! I think if they keep up their homework, and make the couple minor adjustments that we talked about she should be almost perfect with that really soon!

Today we did a lot of desensitization to handling and grooming. So she got practice getting brushed and a nail trim, she did great for both! We also had to practice getting some eye boogers out of her fur, that was not very fun for her in the beginning. Using our methods she was able to learn to relax as much as possible and trust the process. She did really great! Can’t wait to see her again next week!

Birdie and her family have been doing AMAZING!

Birdie isn’t necessarily the lab that always *wants* to please you, so she’s testing boundaries where she can- but by following our protocol Birdie is learning that she has to listen to her parents just like she has to listen to Miss Rachel! They are doing amazing!

Today they decided to take it to the next level and Birdie is hanging out on Place with her mom while she works from home! This is such a cool thing to be able to do with your dog and I am so glad I got to be a part of their journey!💜

I got an update from Tobys dad last night! They have been working hard! They’re increasing distance, duration and distractions with all their commands! So proud of them both!

Please TEXT me the date(s) you would like to bring your dog and what time you would like to drop off/pick up.
If these drop off/ pick up times don’t work just let me know and I’ll do my best to accommodate!

I am so excited to try and bring daycare back again! As I mentioned before it will be a little different than it used to be. This is trial month one, we will continue to make adjustments as needed. But I am so excited to bring daycare back!

I got to see Miss Riley again yesterday!

Since I knew that greeting guests at the front door was the biggest goal for her family, I offered to go to their house for an extra lesson to practice just that! We practiced several different scenarios where I’d ring the door bell and they would put Riley on place then let me in, then we practiced scenarios well they would let me in without putting her in place first. She did AMAZING for all of these exercises! By the end of the lesson she was ready for a nice nap on place! I am so proud of her and her family, I can tell they’ve been putting in the work!

Tucker was back for Puppy Program today!

This adorable little boy has a lot of personality packed into this body! He is so smart and interested in training. Today we talked about a kennel nap schedule for him at home and the long term benefits of kennel training - biggest being it can prevent behavioral issues such as Separation Anxiety!

After that he had his nails trimmed! He wasn’t a fan at first but with my methods I teach the puppy not to fight the nail trim. I also reward after every nail I clip! This teaches the puppy to just hang out and relax during nail trim time. By the end of the nail trim he was content laying there getting his nails dine (and enjoying all the rewards) that he didn’t even want to get up when the trim was over!

Finally we practiced Door Drills! I don’t do this with every Puppy Program client but after today’s lesson I’m thinking we may start! Tucker has escaped through the door at home a couple of times and while his parents have added a gate for safety I want to teach him to wait until he is told it’s okay to go outside. This is a skill that can save his life! So today we practiced that and he did amazing!
