Mean Dog Trainer Mommy has finally started kenneling the cats at meal time! šŸŽ‰ This is something I’ve talked about doing since the kittens first started eating solids!
•
This is going to be really beneficial for them in THREE ways!
1ļøāƒ£- It’s going make sure that each cat is getting their proportioned amount of food at each meal!
2ļøāƒ£- I will be able to monitor how much each cat is getting. If someone skips a meal I will know and will be able to monitor their health!
3ļøāƒ£- It will provide daily kennel desensitization and create positive associations in the kennel. I have already had the kennels in the room with blankets in them and they will nap in there. However, being closed into a kennel is an entirely different concept for animals. This new feeding system will counter condition them to a closed kennel door because now that will mean is food time! This will help to make traveling less stressful for them!
•
Once the cats have gotten used to their new system I will add the blankets back to their kennels I just wanted to be prepared in case someone got silly and made a mess with their food!
•
I know this is not the norm for cats- but I don’t really raise any of my animals to normal standards. How crazy do yall think this is on a scale from 1-10? šŸ˜‚

I got to see Atticus back for his 30-Day Follow Up Lesson today!
🐾
Atticus is rocking it at home! His Mom has been doing a great job with his training. It always makes me so happy to see clients thriving. When I first met Atticus he was a young puppy and he was chewing on everything and was even ripping his moms clothes (playful puppy biting) so he did Puppy Program with me and was able to work through that. He still struggled with walks, he would get so excited and pull and act silly. Now after his Board & Train he does great on the walk! He can walk in a heel or in a free walk without pulling and now walks are enjoyable for him and his mom!

Jack was back for Puppy Program today!
🐾
Today he got to try out a puzzle feeder for the first time and he loved it! Puzzle feeders are a fun way to be give your dog some mental exercise. He also got to practice being back tied for a bit to teach him how to just hang out and relax. He did really well!

Board & Train Update! I am taking videos of most of my training sessions so I HOPE to do a one week progress video for each of themšŸ¤ž

🧔Lelan is making great progress each day! He is getting more comfortable eating for me and is showing interest in working for his food (that’s important because that’s out first step for obedience training). That said he showed a lot of interest today in working for affection so we had a good session with that. So far he’s done great in his kennel and is waiting at the kennel and the door to be released. We haven’t been able to do sit or down yet but today he worked through his fear of the place cot!

🩷Mona is doing great too! She is on day two of the prong collar and she is repainting really well. She got a little overwhelmed her first prong lesson but worked through it quickly. Today so far she’s learned leash pressure for sit and down and responding well to both! She also is waiting at the door and her kennel to be released!

ā¤ļøMousse absolutely loves to work! He’s on day two of the prong collar as well and is making great progress. He was a really bad puller but he’s doing pretty good respecting the prong collar! He’s learned leash pressure for sit and down as well. We’ve also done a bit of work with place. The leash manners have been game changing for him because he’s very handler focused now and excited to train!

So far they’re all progressing nicely and we’re having a good time! While they aren’t all at the same stage of training, they are all improving after each lesson!

Meet Mousse!
🐾
This handsome man just got here for this three week Board & Train! He is about a year and a half and he is all muscle! The biggest reason for his training is that he uses his muscles to pull like a maniac on leash. He’s one of the strongest pullers I’ve met so I’m really excited to teach him leash manners!
🐾
In addition to that he is just so excitable and easily distracted he really acts like he can’t even hear his mom giving him commands when he is excited! So of course if there is any distraction he has no recall. Between that and the pulling his mom feels it has really limited the things she can do with him. He also likes to jump on everyone he meets because he’s so excited!
🐾
Finally he does good with not going potty inside of his house, but when visiting others he will p*e inside. My suspicion is that he is marking so we will be sure to address that while he is here as well! We’ve had one lesson so far and Mousse is excited to work and learn, I look forward to working with him and sharing his progress with y’all!

Meet Lelan!
🐾
This cutie just got here for his three week Board & Train! Lelan is a four year old Pomeranian who is here for the basics. Aside from some Separation Anxiety that presented at drop off, he doesn’t have any major issues!
🐾
His mom would like him to learn basic commands and some manners. Things like greeting guests politely and walking nicely on leash. He also can treat his mom’s feet like a chew toy when he gets the zoomies so we definitely want to work on safe zoomies! Finally he has claimed the couch as his own so we will teach him not to get on furniture unless invited. I’m looking forward to working with him over the next three weeks and I can’t wait to share his progress!

Welcome back Mona!
🐾
This sweet girl did Puppy Program with me earlier this year, now she’s back for her three week Board & Train! After her Board & Train she’s going to be boarding with me for an additional two weeks while her parents are out of town - so get used to seeing this cute face! Fortunately her mom was able to give her a short haircut and take her (normally beautifully fluffy) ears short for me so I don’t have to worry about matting!
🐾
One of the biggest goals for Mona while she is here is to build her confidence! She was pretty reactive to other dogs but through the homework assigned in Puppy Program that has gotten better. We still want to tidy that up a bit but now she’s mainly just reacting to people (I believe is what I was told). So we will address that, she’ll learn her 10 obedience commands and we will work on confidence building!
🐾
I’m excited to spend the next month with her and I already know I’m going to be crying about wanting a poodle when she goes home!

Just a little behind the scenes of my office/aka the Cat Room and some of my cat stuff around the house! I strongly believe that cats should be indoor only pets unless they’re on a leash or an enclosed catio. So I like to have lots of climbing options for my cats inside to keep them active! They use and love all their shelves, Reba is the only one who doesn’t use the treadmill. I also realized I didn’t show yall everything so if you like this content leave a comment and I’ll try and include the cats more!
