📢 Virginia Farmers – We Need Your Input!

The shortage of large animal veterinarians is a growing concern for Virginia’s agricultural community. To help find solutions, VDACS is partnering with the Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine to conduct a survey to gather feedback from livestock producers like you. Your input will help shape future programs, including a new state grant program aimed at attracting more large animal vets to rural areas.

The Virginia Tech Veterinary Teaching Hospital castration clinic on Thursday, April 3, is now accepting applications! Spots are limited, so book early. A waitlist will be available.

Your horse must be:

Halter-broke
Negative Coggins test
Vet-confirmed 2 testicles
5 years or younger
~1000 lbs or less

Introducing your 2025 VVC keynote speaker, Dr. Melinda McCall! 🤩🐾

Join Dr. McCall for her keynote presentation on Friday, February 21st titled "Approaching Veterinary Medicine with Grace, Grit & Humor to Better Serve your Clients & Patients". Her session will discuss practical examples and strategies on how changing your outlook and communication about a case can increase patient safety, client compliance, and strengthen the veterinarian-client-patient relationship.

Join her again during our food animal panel on Saturday as she discusses the veterinary medicine loan repayment program and veterinary service grants.

Our very own Dr. Carson with the VVMA and other Loudoun County veterinarian’s visited Virginia State Delegate Higgins and other state representatives on Capitol Square to discuss bills affecting the veterinary field. We are very proud of Dr. Carson and his leadership advocating for the best veterinary care for all animals. 📃🩺⚕️🦮
