It's national ! Don't forget to remind clients on why microchipping their pets is important and keeping microchip contact information up-to-date! πŸΎπŸ’™

On , we're sharing a few important reminders on the importance of microchips - such as:

➑ 1 in 3 family pets will get lost
➑ Microchipped dogs are more than twice as likely to be returned to their owners and microchipped cats are more than 20 times as likely to be returned to their owners

And remember - while microchips greatly increase the chances that pets will be reunited with their families if they are lost or stolen…a microchip only works if its registration information is accurate.

πŸ“²πŸ“… Join us on Thursday, June 27th, at 7:00pm for our upcoming webinar, presented by the Virginia Board of Veterinary Medicine. Registration is OPEN and FREE for VVMA or VALVT members!

This presentation provides an overview of the Board of Veterinary Medicine's regulatory requirements and guidance for registering, maintaining standards and disassociating from veterinarian-in-charge (VIC) duties.

LVT's are also encouraged to attend this session, as technicians are often delegated tasks that fall under the VIC's responsibilities. Understanding these requirements as a technician plays an essential role in the VIC's oversight of the veterinary establishment.

National Dog Bite Prevention Week takes place during the second full week of April each year, and focuses on educating people about preventing dog bites. Check out these tips from the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) and remind pet parents this week how they can prevent dog bites! πŸΆπŸ’™

Dogs can bite for many reasons, including improper care or a lack of socialization. All dogs, even well-trained, gentle dogs, are capable of biting when provoked, especially when eating, sleeping, or caring for puppies. Therefore, it's vitally important to keep both children and dogs safe by preventing dog bites wherever possible.

The National Dog Bite Prevention Coalition (AVMA, State Farm, Victoria Stilwell, American Humane, and Insurance Information Institute) recommends the following tips. We can all by working together. Visit avma.org/DogBite to learn more!
