REMINDER! There is no daycare tomorrow, January 1st, New Year Day! We are only open for boarding drop off and pick-up 8-10 am and 3-5 pm. We hope you all have a safe and happy holiday!

Now that the craziness of the holidays is slowing down, we wanted to remind you that we are still collecting items for rescue through January!! Our pile is growing slowly- THANK YOU to everyone who has donated so far! Keep em coming, we would love to help these guys as much as we possibly can, they sure need it!

We will be closing early on December 22nd. Our office will be closed at 3:00 PM. Drop off for boarding will be between 7:30-12:00 PM and 1:00-3:00 PM. Late pick up will still be available. Please call our office at 207-848-5613 with any questions!

Yes! We are still holding our fundraiser/ food drive this year for some local animal rescues and charities! Please help us fill under our little tree (or the whole office!) with goodies for animals in need! Cash is much appreciated as well! We will be extending this fundraiser beyond Christmas and delivering in January to give everyone plenty of time to help since we got a late start collecting this year!!

Reports have been made of an as-of-yet unidentified respiratory illness that’s causing serious symptoms in dogs in several states. The most concerning being that it has been progressing to pneumonia rather quickly in some cases. Veterinarians are still working hard to learn more. There have been cases of illness in the area that are cause for some concern. While we don’t believe it is cause for panic at this time, we recommend being cautious and limiting exposure to other dogs. When it comes to the health and safety of our pets, it’s always better to not take any risks.
At this time there is no known way to identify what’s causing the illness – veterinarians are hard at work to determine where it’s coming from and how to treat it. If your dog has a cough, please contact your vet for advice. Some have been testing and sending samples out to universities to research!

What we ask from you, our beloved clients!
-If your dog has a slight cough or hack (like trying to clear throat) PLEASE KEEP THEM HOME and inform us immediately so we can keep track of anyone exposed!
-If you show up with your dog and they are hacking, you may be asked to bring them home. Even if they have not been coughing at home, excitement does tend to elicit the cough in some.
What are we are doing to try to limit exposure?
-Extra disinfection (on top of our normal cleaning procedure)
-Each dog has their own labeled kennel and water bowl upon arrival and that is their kennel alone until they depart.
-With the exception of some of our daycare playgroups, we are limiting dog socializing at this time. If your dog comes in for boarding and normally plays with others, they may go out to play with a staff member rather than other dogs.

Life has a way of changing directions on us, when we least expect it. I have made the difficult decision to sell Maine Animal Keeper. I can’t tell you how much joy it has brought to my heart over these past 8 plus years, to have had the opportunity to care for all of your pups and cats. You have no idea how much I will miss each and every one of them. 🐾❤️🐾 Thank you for trusting in me for the care of your most treasured possessions. And A HUGE THANK YOU to my staff! Without them, MAK was nothing. They are simply the best!
The new owner will be Ashley, my head groomer. I assure you she will continue the incredible care your dogs and cats have always received.
Thank you so so much from the bottom of my heart, I will miss you all ❤️🐾
