Happy Tongues Out Tuesday from Goldie to those who celebrate! Did you know a cat’s tongue is rough and sandpaper-like due to the tiny spines, called papillae, that cover it. These spines are made of keratin, the same material as human fingernails, and are shaped like miniature cat claws! The more you know!

Larry is the epitome of calm, comfort, and cuddles. Affectionately nicknamed our "lounge lizard," this handsome flame-point Siamese mix spends his days basking in the simple joys of life—especially lounging after a good meal. With his plush, teddy bear-like appearance and endearing personality, Larry is impossible not to love.

Larry first appeared outside UCLA student housing, where caring students fed and looked after him. One compassionate student took him for a veterinary checkup, where she learned Larry was FIV positive. Knowing he deserved the safety of an indoor home, she turned to an LA City shelter, hoping someone would give Larry the love he deserved. Sadly, Larry was given only seven days to find a home in a system overwhelmed with animals. Determined not to let him fall through the cracks, the student reached out to us at Peter Zippi, and we gladly stepped in to give Larry his second chance at life.

Since joining us, Larry has blossomed. He’s been neutered, had a much-needed dental, and his once street-worn fur is now becoming plush and soft. He’s even discovering the joy of play, adding a new layer of charm to his already affectionate and laid-back demeanor. Despite some past tail trauma, which has left part of his tail without sensation, Larry is completely unbothered by it—it’s just another part of his unique character.

Larry is listed as special needs due to his FIV-positive status, but don’t let that deter you—FIV-positive cats can live long, healthy lives with just a little extra care and the love they deserve. Larry doesn’t ask for much, just a safe, indoor-only home where he can thrive.

With his affectionate nature, striking flame-point good looks, and mellow personality, he’s the perfect match for anyone seeking a loyal and loving companion. Larry is ready to leave his street life behind and embrace the comfort of a forever home filled with warmth and love. Could that special home be yours?

🏡 Adoption Announcement! 🏡 Costello’s journey started with quite the dramatic rescue! 🚗 This spirited little guy was found in a storage unit at just 5 weeks old on September 17th. During his car ride to safety, he decided to add a little flair by climbing into the dashboard—turning his rescue into a two-part adventure! 🙀 Thanks to our friends at VCA Coast, who provided his initial exam and asked if we had space, Costello found his way to us. Of course, we were thrilled to say we had space! 💕 After some TLC in foster care to help him grow big and strong, this brave and lively boy was ready for the next chapter. 🐈 Now, sweet Costello (renamed Milo) is living his best life with his new family! He’s become best pals with Vinnie and is already bonding with his new sisFUR, Nina. 🐾💖 A heartfelt thank you to everyone who played a part in Milo’s journey—your efforts brought this sweet boy to his perfect home! 💫 Here’s to Milo, Vinnie, Nina, and their happily ever after! 🏡✨
