Finally getting around to posting our PUPPY NURSERY! We have worked on this project for one year and it is truly a dream for me as a breeder. Having my own washer and dryer to wash all the puppy laundry has been so helpful and all the cabinet space for all the activities. Why do we desensitize our puppies?
Desensitizing puppies is an important part of their upbringing. It involves exposing them to various sights, sounds, and experiences in a controlled and positive manner, helping them become less fearful or reactive in the future. Puppies who are not desensitized may grow up to be anxious or aggressive towards new situations or people. By gradually introducing them to different stimuli, we can help our puppies develop confidence and resilience, making them better equipped to handle the unpredictable world around them. It’s important to note that desensitizing should always be done with care and patience, as overwhelming a puppy can have the opposite effect and lead to more fear and anxiety.
The goal of these exercises is to create tolerant, pliable pups who willingly allow human touch and close interaction. It is one thing for a puppy to let you, the breeder, poke and prod at them. They trust you. They should. But to allow someone else is important too, as these pups will soon live with new families and meet many new people over the course of their lives. -Jeanette Forrey
