This filly came to us with a suspected โbroken shoulderโ and soft tissue damage.
The vets at Mountain Point jumped right in and Dr. Kelli did a phenomenal job on getting as good of imaging as we can get on the shoulder/elbow region (both X ray and ultrasound). Collectively deemed it nerve damage based on the movement and atrophy patterns and NOT a broken shoulder.
Movement was difficult with constant tripping, shoulder/elbow was rotating inward (medial) giving her a pigeon toed appearance and a plethora of other movement issues.
60 days of ATS Acuscope / Myopulse, Natural E from MVP, and a whole lot of hand walking and this filly was cleared to swim to finish building her muscles back up.
She left with probably 70% more muscling in her shoulder, sound at the walk, sound at the trot, no longer rotated medially on the front limb and spunky as ever.
Although she still has some recovery ahead of her, we all collectively agreed she made substantial progress thanks to Acuscope being the primary focus in her initial recovery. Thereโs a good chance her future as a barrel horse would have been out the window. Now though, she has a fighting chance. Sheโs still young and her future soundness is looking incredibly positive!

Was finally able to get my hands on this wound after 3 weeks (being out of state is rough sometimes).
It was struggling to heal even with a very attentive owner who was doing her best.
Came in swollen, unable to put full weight on it, and some proud flesh. The vets scraped it, cleaned it, wrapped it and then I took over for ATS Electro-Acuscope sessions.
8/16, swelling almost gone after only 3 sessions. 8/18 it was well on its way to healing. 8/21 she went home and we can now move over to maintenance session for a week or 2 to help it finish closing.
One week is all it took to go from swollen and really sore to moving sound. She was happy and comfortable even today while I messed with her leg.
