It's always great to see a familiar face......We first met Tank in 2021, when his owners at the could not afford the emergency surgery to remove his urate bladder stones, and unblock his urethra....off to MidValley! And then, the owners found Tank another home.....and then he ended up in another home..and then another trip to the Emergency vet to relieve his blocked urethra at the first of December 2024. Once again, the owners were unable to afford the surgery, Bulldog Club of Utah Rescue was called, and the great team at MIdValley Animal Clinic was called into service to fix his plumbing AGAIN!!! This time around, Tank was neutered as well. ($1.700 with neuter)
His owners, feeling like they would be unable to afford his care and prescription diet, surrendered Tank to Bulldog Club of Utah Rescue.
Tank is five years old, and he is a fine, healthy, happy boy! He is incredibly easy to have around, and he is really deserving of someone who will give him the time and attention that he craves, and deserves.
He gets along with all the other dogs, male and female, doesn't seem bothered by cats, or New Year's Eve fireworks. All he wants is someone that doesn't think he is disposable, when he has some problems, or not worth the sacrifice to afford the food that will keep him happy and healthy. And someone to take him for a walk--because it is fun! And to give him a nylabone to chew, or let him sit under the desk while his person is working, or napping on the couch, in the sun.
So, about that prescription diet:It changes the pH of the urine, so that crystals and stones don't form. It does require a veterinarian's prescription, and it is pricey: 27.5 lb. bag of Hill's U/D food is about $135.00 from Chewy, with the "Autoship" discount .Right now it is looking like that will last Tank 6-8 weeks. From experience, if Tank is fed the prescription food consistently, he should not be bothered with urate stones. In the past, people have used the kibble as a treat, just to be on the safe side--works very well There are other prescription foods out there that work just as well, but are more expensive.
If you think you can give Tank the home he deserves, and keep him on the appropriate diet, please fill out the application to adopt.
