When cats hit you with retracted claws, they are playing, not attacking. Cats will attack your ankles when they are bored.
Shimmer is a great playful cat. She only likes to play with humans. She will do best in a home with no other cats.

We had hoped for easier or even just a lighter load, and for once we entered a new year with a little bit of funds in the bank but 2025 has other plans for us. January has been filled with medical needs upon medical medical needs. It has also brought many cats our way. We thought we would go slow, rest, adopt out the kitties that have been waiting patiently for months even years with us before we head into kitten season but again 2025 said “not today”.
Here is a recap of January 2025 for you.
-We have several kitties with thyroid issues and needing testing and meds to get them under control.
-a leg amputation
-a kitty that was spayed but had a tiny bit of ovarian tissue left behind so had to have another more invasive surgery to remove that. This Is new for us
- a kitty that needed to be scoped and flushed for serious upper respiratory infection.
- we took in 7 kitties dumped on the state game lands. All with bad uri’s and serious diarrhea.
- we are currently working on a hoarding case of 30ish cats. Took 8 so far and spay/neutering the rest next week until we can find a rescue to help or until we can adopt out cats to make room for more.
- already took in a mom with 5 tiny kittens 😳. Please neuter your pets.
- working a TNR situation with 30-40 cats and got a sickly one that ended up testing positive for rabies. This is new for us.
- giardia and coccidia continue to be a force to be reckoned with as cats come in.
- a kitty with toxoplasmosis. Also new for us.
- a kitty with cryptosporidium. Also new for us.
- A very sickly kitty who we tried treatments and tests and in the end had an inoperable mass in her stomach and crossed the rainbow bridge.
- vet appts for sick kitties.
- FIP treatment for 4 kitties.
- bloodwork
- supplies for the upcoming kitten season.
- many emails, texts, calls to take more.
- spay/neuter surgeries
- a full mouth extraction for Bohdi
- updating all the rabies and distemper shots for all of the kitties that have been with us for a year.
The list goes on and on. Safe to say we are again in need of funds to keep doing what we are doing.

We are an all volunteer 501c3 nonprofit organization and we need your help to keep going. Our volunteers do amazing things. We don’t just help cats, we help people too. We want to keep going and we will keep going but unfortunately money makes this happen for us. Help us move forward into 2025 and also please send good vibes that the rest of the year will loosen its grip and calm down so we can also breathe while we are doing this. ❤️

Grapes, Raisins, onions, garlic, and chives are all extremely harmful foods for cats. Grapes and raisins can cause kidney failure. onions, garlic and chives can cause bad issues on the cats gastrointestinal system and can cause anemia.
Please be careful with any left out foods. Do not let your cat get into them, especially if you have cooked a meal with any of these.

Time for this week's edition of Tell Us Tuesday!

Today we ask...what age of kitty do you prefer? Do you like the crazy little kittens, the middle-aged adventurous, playful kitties, or the older seniors who've settled down and discovered what's important in life?

And how old are your kitties?

Sweet Olga is part of our Introverts Club. She prefers to be a wallflower and watch the action going on with all the other cats.

She and Exodus, another wallflower, are closely bonded. You'll find her chirping and talking with him in the evenings when they're most comfortable coming out. It's important that she and he go to their forever home together so that they can really thrive and increase their comfort level.

Olga does accept pets reluctantly, but with the right human and Exodus, she'll be your best friend.
