Did you ever see a cat sit in a square? Even a square made of tape?
Some cats feel its a way to claim their territory. They sit, leave their scent and claim it as theirs. Your cat may feel that even a taped off square will give them a sense of security. It has defined edges and may see it as an enclosed area. Squares and rectangles are best shapes that fit their body shape. Using a box can be a great insulator. It can keep them warm, as we discussed earlier. It can even keep them cooler in the summer. The shape will even help an older cat find better balance. Try a square on the floor and see if your cat sits.

The first Saturday of April is "Every Day is Tag Day." We use this day as an opportunity to educate and encourage pet owners to have their pets microchipped to ensure the pets are returned safely should they go missing. Summer 2024 we rescued a little kitty and we wondered if she would make it. Fast forward to now and she is thriving. Athena was found on the hot pavement at an abandoned warehouse. She couldn’t see to save her little feet from burning because her eyes were sealed shut and to top it off she was starving because she couldn’t find food We scooped her up and got her to the vet and after a few days at the emergency vet we brought her home. We learned that she did not have eyelids on the tops of her eyes and the bottom lids were turning inward on her eyes, and they would need to be surgically repaired. We have been using ointment for many months until they thought she was old enough and healthy eanough for surgery. She is scheduled mid April to have her surgery and the estimate is $2400-$3100. 😳

Plants – Lilies (highly toxic), azaleas, sago palms, oleander, philodendrons, poinsettias, tulips, daffodils
