Hi! This is my intro post so you can get to know a little bit more about the person who will be taking care of your dog or dogs. The next post has all the info and pictures of my kennels and yard.
My name is Rory Hasenauer, and I LOVE dogs! Every job I’ve had (except for one) has been working with dogs in some capacity. If you have any questions about dog breeds, I’m your friend! I’ve researched dogs for over 15 years, and every day I still learn something new, lol. My dogs are my children, and your dogs will be treated with the same respect I’d give to any family member as well. Dogs aren’t just animals; they are family, and they have feelings, so they deserve to be treated with love and respect.
A little more about me:
I just graduated in May from the University of Kansas. I majored in Film, with a minor in Theatre (focused in design). I was born and raised in North Platte, and I graduated from NPHS in 2019. I’ve always been nerdy; I love books, movies, musicals, superheroes, video games, math, and everything else nerdy. I’m also very artsy, I’ve always been playing instruments and singing since I was little, and I also love drawing and other crafts. I’m always up to learning new things, so I’m always up to talking about anything!
My dogs, or “The Boys”, as everyone in my family calls them, are my world.
Percy, the fluffy grey one, is a Pekapoo and will be turning 4 in September. He would be the “BearBear” in the name of the business, if you were wondering. He may only be 20 lbs, but it’s all sassiness and “old man energy”. He is over dramatic most of the time, but he is also incredibly smart and even more stubborn. HIs favorite activities are laying on the couch, chewing on toys or treats, and getting right up in your business so you will pay attention to him. He will fully lay on top of your arms and cover whatever you are holding, a phone, a book, or whatever else you may be holding. He knows how cute and/or funny looking he is, and he can and will use his underbite to get what he wants. He’s the kind of dog that will let you hold him however you want, just as long as his head is higher than his tail. He’s cool with all dogs as he mostly likes to do his own thing. The one thing he doesn’t like is any new inanimate object. If he’s not used to it, it becomes a new danger that must be investigated and barked at… with caution… from a distance. You moved that chair that’s been there in the same spot for a year? Now it’s an intruder! He doesn’t care that it looks exactly the same as it did the last time you took a trip, that suitcase MOVED! It rolled when you pushed it! That crinkly paper might cause the world to end! Don’t even get me started on that so called “toad” that lives outside! Like I said, he’s dramatic.
My other little gremlin, the one known as BipBip, is actually Mr. Mxyzptlk (Mitz for short). He is a chihuahua mix that I adopted at around 8 weeks old from a shelter down in Kansas. He is now almost 2. He’s very skinny and long. Mitz looks like you took his legs and stretched them out, then you decided to stretch out his body and neck as well. He is truly long in every sense of the word. He’s also very obviously mostly chihuahua. He’s a one person dog, and he has to be able to see/touch me at every given moment. It takes him a little longer to be comfortable around new dogs, but once he gets to know them, he will play and play and play! Then, when he’s tired, he will curl up next to Percy, another dog, or me and lay his head on them. He may not be the smartest, but he will cuddle with you all day if he can, and he is also a big fan of sleeping under the covers. Mitz is the opposite of Percy in the bravery category. He is afraid of nothing, and if he is, you’ll “never” be able to tell. He is named after a DC villain who is basically a leprechaun whose only goal is to annoy Superman. He must have learned this somehow, as that seems to be a main goal of his toward me and Percy most of the time.
I love my boys to bits, and I don’t know what I would do without them. I know that many other people feel the same way, which is why I wanted to start this business. I would hate having to leave them in a small kennel or alone in the house while I go off having fun on vacation, so I decided to make a facility that negates the need for that. But, like I said, I’ll go into more depth on that in the next post. Thanks for reading! I hope that I’ll be able to give your dogs a home away from home where they can be happy and comfortable while you are gone!
