A reminder this holiday season about the dangers of common gift giving and decorative plants. Please keep these from your pets.

I still wonder during the festive times why these plants are still so common. Thousands of pets end up extremely ill or die from ingesting. Please be safe and stay away from these.

Lulu is in desperate need of a home. This 6 yo female kitty is loving and kind, she just wants love. Her owners unfortunately are elderly and can no longer care for her. She is spayed and up to date on her vaccinations. She was an indoor/outdoor cat but needs an indoor only home. There is a false post going around about rabies. The only way to know if a cat has rabies is to euthanize it and have it sent for testing. Yes, a cat can look symptomatic but a feral cat can present same way. You can quarantine a cat for 10 days, if they have rabies, they will not live. Chances are, no rabies. There hasn't been a feline rabies for many many years, over 15 I think to be on safe guessing estimate.
So please do not listen to posts before you research. I'm very upset honestly, posting a cat has rabies can cause paranoid actions.

Btw pic is of Axl. A kitten I was told needed to be tested for rabies due to his behavior. He was feral kitten who was hit by my truck. Of course he was upset! We kept him safe and secure for the 10days. Now he is the most loving fur boy!

Christmas is just around the corner!! Let's not forget about all of the animals that will spend the holidays in shelters/rescues and fosters! With the holiday season of family and gift giving, sometimes there just isn't enough to go around for our furry friends. Please won't you make sure they have what they need.

There will be drop off points/boxes in several locations. Please keep checking back as we add locations.
Donations will go to the rescues/shelters/fosters who need them or if you have a preference please label it.

Locations so far will be:

Yogis restaurant Murphy nc
Julies Place Peachtree nc

We will also be doing an angel tree with lake Chattuge animal hospital.

Did you know cats need to stay hydrated to better regulate their body temperature? Meaning a dehydrated cat has a harder time staying warm.

Did you know outdoor animals need 15% - 20% more calories during cold weather? They burn a lot of calories trying to stay warm.

I had the opportunity to volunteer once again with tri state clinic. ARFS also had them see a feral cat that was leaking some type fluid and it was frozen on him. They did a wonderful job finding that he had a serious infection in his whole hip area all the way towards his back. Fleas are the guess as the reason. His skin is horrible. He is safely inside my garage until he heals up a bit. I was able to take part in his care and assessment as well. A wonderful group of caring people, staff, doctors. Thank you.

Just a reminder!! Possum, raccoons and skunks do not hibernate and will look for a place to warm up. Please let them warm if they are near your house. Please leave them scraps or better yet, they love grapes, bananas, hot dogs, dog food and cat food. And keep water containers down low for them. If we help them through the winter they will thank us by eating our ticks and other annoying bugs and critters.
