This is the hard part of rescue, dealing with people who should NEVER have a pet of any kind who don’t love them enough to care for or keep them.
Unfortunately, our Christmas here hasn’t been so jolly this year. We unexpectedly lost one of our long term residents today💔
Red Hot has been with us on and off since 2016. After 3 failed adoptions, he has consecutively been with us since June 2021 after his last owner returned him due to having a baby. He has had a rough life… From arriving with a massive scar down his back, to not adjusting well at the kennel the first time he was returned, to being bounced around his entire life. At the age of 9, we had hoped he would spend his final years in a real forever home. It turns out, we have been his real home all along. But he deserved more than life in a kennel. He deserved someone who wouldn’t give up on him like so many others did.
Red Hot had so many friends here that loved him like their own. Our volunteers are the most dedicated people we have ever met to these dogs. He was fortunate enough to pass today with his favorite person by his side. Our hearts are all broken today.
Until we meet again, buddy…🌈

Red Hot absolutely loved toys, chews, and treats. (and rolling in grass). Any donations made to this post will go directly to enrichment items for his kennel friends in honor of him so we can give them the best life possible while they are with us❤️
If you are a current volunteer/staff or former volunteer/staff, leave a memory or picture of Red in the comments❤️
