Generally, ingestion of either will lead to tummy upset, so it is still best to try and minimize your pet from getting into them. Puckering up under the mistletoe? Keep it away from your pets. Mistletoe also known as American mistletoe or Phoradendron leucarpum is common decorative plant seen during the holiday season. Mistletoe is consider a toxic plant and best to keep it away from your pet. While small ingestions of berries may lead to mild tummy troubles like vomiting and diarrhea, ingestions of leaves and stems may lead to more significant concerns like depression, tremors and blood diarrhea.

Poinsettias are not the deadly flowers that popular legend has made them out to be. This pink, red, or white beauty always makes a strong showing around the holidays. The sap of poinsettias can be irritating to the stomach leading to drooling, vomiting and diarrhea. Keeping this plant out of the reach of your pet to avoid stomach upset is still a good idea, but you need not banish the poinsettia from your home for fear of a fatal exposure.
