Clutch says I'm digging to China... That or making another mud spa for Axl. I know most wouldn't show this for a dog they are trying to find placement for. But we really are transparent... That and if you do have a dog that likes to dig it's really important that they actually get to do this. Even if it's just a 5x5 area that you put in a box and redirect them to when they are wanting to dig. Digging burns up so much of their energy and is stimulating for them. You can even make it fun and hide their toys in it for them to find. And it's really easy to cover the hole back up. A lot of your terriers and other breeds that love to dig would be a lot less crazy if you just let them have this exercise. They really think they are going to find a treasure. Bless them.

Axl says he needs to talk to the manager... The groomer forgot to make sure he had towels so now he has to take his walk wet. While we wait for Mom to bring Dad towels after she takes care of everybody else. I told axl I got bad news the groomer, p**p picker upper, walker, schedule coordinator, chef are all the manager and the same person. He says this is bull. To be fair today wasn't the scheduled bath day... He found mud and decided to roll around in it. So we have done an internal investigation and found we have done nothing wrong and this is actually Axl's fault.

We have tank tops now! They are available in grey and black! They are $15 and will need to be prepaid as well. Venmo for orders is BDRANDR. Orders this round will be closing on July 31st. This will be the last round they will be available at $15. They will be able to be picked up at our event on August 24th at Pet Supplies Plus - Hickory, NC. We can also arrange other pick up/delivery options as well.

Harley practicing her leash skills... While we don't recommend retractable leashes for all walks. We do use one for letting them them play in the yard with us and short walks like this one. She's getting the hang of it, but does occasionally need a reminder to keep pace with me at this point. This is all without treats and only positive training method. Shameless plug here we do offer in home training through our other company Carolina Dog Outfitters .

Thank you for the very good day yesterday! We had some $5 dollar Friday donations, merch sales, and one of Ghost's pledge followed through on their pledge! This helps us immensely as running a predominantly shelter style rescue is probably the most expensive way to enter the rescue world. But we truly believe this will give us the power to make the most impact!

Cash is still available!

Cash is got the all clear on his surgery and is available to be adopted. The only lasting effects is one of his back legs will always be shorter than the other and he will have a swing gait. With that being said he is a blind dog and his new home will have to accommodate this. His new home must have an open floor plan that will be easy for him to learn and remember. This floor plan will need to stay relatively the same to help him navigate it. The yard must be fenced to keep him safe as he does enjoy outside time to get out his energy! These requirements are non-negotiable. You can put in an application without these, but we will say no. We also will need a vet reference. If you are interested in Cash please send us a pm so we can get you an application.

Cash is approximately a one year old male black pit mix that weighs 40lbs. He is neutered and up to date on all shots.

Below is what his foster mom had to say about him:

Cash is an energetic young puppy that loves to play. When playing with another dog his eyesight does not seem to affect it at all. He would do great with a young dog that he can play with. Cash is very respectful of older dogs when they growl at him to back off.
Cash is housetrained. He will even stand at the door to go out when needed.
Cash is totally blind. I do believe and the vet also believes that he can see large shapes. When navigating he does run into things. He is blind. I use a leash to get him down the stairs into our yad and then let him go. He has learned quite a bit of it, but still needs to be watched so he does not hurt himself. Cash does love to be free in the yard and run around.
Cash does great with cats. He can be a little annoying, but backs off when they smack him.
I have been keeping Cash in a large kennel at night and when we are gone. At night this seems to help him calm down and realize it is bedtime.
Cash is very affectionate and loves to be pet on.

Sealing is done... Other than a few touch up spots I have to go back and cover. This should give us a good amount of protection and be fairly low maintenance. It is our goal that the dogs are only in here for crate training, sleeping, eating, and protection from extreme weather including cold and heat. We want to fill their days waiting on their family playing in the yard, porch sitting, pools, running, and day trips in to town. Right now our limitation is play yards. We have to cycle them through the play yard. So again any donations of or for kennel panels that we use to make the play yards will be greatly appreciated.

As we head into the weekend it's been an overall great week at the ranch. We got to meet another amazing dog and save his life! Tomorrow we will seal the last 4 foot section of the building. Which will allow us to resume putting up the drywall. We really do have big plans for this place, but we need the dog community to support us fully to make it happen. No we aren't the perfect place or even the place we have a vision to be. We want to the be an oasis for rescue dogs and the army that responds when they are in need.

That being said I've had to say no more than I could say yes this week when a dog was approaching their last days. As long as the current culture remains what it is I don't expect that to change or go in our favor very often. I had to tell Gaston County we couldn't take Rico which is Ghost's brother. I also had to tell them no to a dog named Baloo that had resource guarding issues. That I truly believe I could help. I had to tell Ashe county no to the sweetest dog named MJ. I don't know if any of these dogs will make it out. I know we try to focus on the positives. I'll be honest most of that is to protect me. I have to be here for them. I will not burn out or stress out. As long as I'm physically able I'll be standing in the gap for as many as I can and expanding capacity as long as it is needed. MJ is available for adoption at Ashe County Animal Control.

Princess is still adjusting to the new setup and schedule. But making excellent progress on remastering her crate command. We strongly believe in crating to keep your dog safe, and just giving them a place of their own. Our ultimate goal is these dogs come to you ready to assimilate into your home smoothly as possible. Another reason why we have opted to do crates rather than traditional kennels that you would see at a traditional shelter. Of course there is always an adjustment period, but our goal is you have some basic commands to help the dog understand what you want from them.

He's overall a very healthy dog and should respond very well to the treatment! Please help us help this boy! Cash says it is play time!

We got bad news about our sweet and smart Clutch. Yesterday at the vet when picking him up from his surgery we found out he is heartworm positive. They did send us home with a treatment plan. I will be consulting with the vet on getting the treatment plan started and costs on Monday. He did not have any microfilaria in his blood which means our preventives are working to keep them from reproducing. But we are looking at a year long treatment plan. Due to his age the vet feels the slow kill method will be the best route for him. These treatments will not be inexpensive considering his size. Our plan for him is to find him a local home and proceed with his treatments that the new home must agree to cooperate with to retain ownership. The rescue will cover the treatments at our preferred vet. He is 6 years old. He is good with female dogs and submissive males. He is housebroken and crate trained! He knows sit, down, spin, shake, and "say please". His overall leash manners are good, but not perfect. We are going to be very picky with his home as he will not just go to just anybody or the first person messaging us with interest. $5 Dollar Donation Friday! This week has really flown by and been busy for us. Cash got his surgery and is recovering well. We got a 2nd event on the books we'll have more on that later. Microsoft granted us their technology grants to make running the rescue easier. Clutch is heading to the vet today. There is so much more we want to do for these dogs and the dogs currently in shelters! This weeks donations will go towards the spaying and nueters that need to happen for Hank, Princess, and Joker. This is Malibu, our first rescue before we even a rescue. She is 40 lbs of fury and definitely has big dawg energy, but at the same time is a total sweetheart and cuddle bug!!! She is roughly 4 years old now. She was abandoned by her previous family and lived on the streets and in a shed behind a church for a couple of years. A friend of ours contacted us about a pregnant dog living in a shed and we decided she was going to come home to us. My husband brought her home at the beginning of July 2022 and by the end of the month she gave birth to three healthy puppies and two still horns. She was a great mom. She has been a joy in our lives with all her cuddles and kisses!!!!!!
