"The Celtic corgi races came to fruition after pet owners in previous years asked to bring their dogs to the festival. The idea then grew from a corgi club meet-up, to a casual corgi race, until it became the Celtic 500" Speed Championships.
Most of the ball-chasing contestants came from the Michigan Corgi Club, a meet-up group of over 6,000 corgi owners and lovers alike. However, most of the people and pets who competed independently joined the Michigan Corgi Club by the end of the race, after meeting more furry friends and their less furry owners who share the same love for corgis.
