Can we take a moment to appreciate Snorty-Pete's two year glow up. I picked him up in Arkansas from a friend who was not able to do the training rehab he needed due to her health issues. He was sullen. Distrusting. He wanted absolutely nothing to do with people and used no shortage of middle finger gestures to tell you that. He just wanted to be left alone. We were told he was an Amish mill horse, the guys horse that he trusted with his kids. Big talk we all ignore when someone brings a horse to a sale they claim to "love".
Fast forward almost two years: his body changed. His mind changed. He softened. Pete rarely snorts these days and if he does it's pretty quiet, under the radar. Nothing like the horse that cocked a hip at me if I thought about walking too close and breathed fire at anything suspicious. He pulls a carriage politely and yesterday he did his first photo shoot with people loving all over him and he stood like a statue for it all. I found the unicorn that was in him all along. I knew it was there. I wouldn't have driven all day and half the night to pick him up if I thought it wasn't. Welcome home Pete. You're finally here.
Look for Pete in a lot more public events and photo shoots this year. He's stepping up to the plate.

Our herd is more than just pretty horses harnessed to pull carriages and farm implements. They're gentle souls that follow us around the pasture at free will to beg the five year old for a scratch.
We select and breed our animals for their temperament first, then conformation. We want them to be mentally and physically sound well into their twenties and beyond to enjoy the retirement they've earned.

Do you know what's the best part, but also the hardest about Christmas? Having kids.
Am I going to have enough money for presents?
Am I going to be able to do the fun things?
Am I making the right memories and being a good parent?
Know what's harder? Being a single parent and having to do these things.
Single income. Single responsibilities. Single you!
I know how that feels. I'm a single mom. Just me, my daughter, dogs and horses. We couldn't do it without the lovely people in our life that aren't even family that choose to show up and help make this insane dream of ours come true.
I also believe in the good karma of paying it forward. That brings me to the point of this post.

We've teamed up with North Pole Acres to give one lucky single parent and their kids a carriage ride through the lights in Oak Grove Missouri on 12/17/2023 at 5:30pm. Wild Fyre Co Family Photography will also be there to do photos of the lucky family. No charge, bring your kids and enjoy the lights on us. Message us on here and tell us your story or the story of another deserving single parent on why you think they need this ride. Please include a way for us to contact them when they win. We will choose the winner by 8pm on 12/15/2023

No carriage rides tonight at North Pole acres. It's an absolute sloppy mess and very windy. With the temperatures getting down to the 20's plus 20mph winds and soft and possibly muddy paths the wagon will sink in, we're taking our horses and our drivers well beings into account. Hopefully we will see you all next Sunday.

Here's some behind the scenes from today.
Our horses get better care than most humans. Regular body work, massages, PEMF, dental care, supplements, custom shoes every 5-6 weeks. It takes all the good stuff to keep our horses happy and that's the first thing your carriage ride pays for. We want them occupying our pastures soundly, long past their carriage career.
Rhonda gave Dee a gold seal of approval today "she's in great shape! Especially for a working horse " and gushed over what a cool mare she is so many times.
We feel very fortunate to have found her in that kill pen and gave her a chance.

If kisses extended life, Dee would live forever.

This lovely mare came to us out of a kill pen, one step before the long haul to Mexico. She was sullen and sour and didn't know a whole lot.
Now days? She's the first horse to you in the pasture and the last to leave. Humans have fingers that can scratch those itchy spots a Percheron can't reach and Dee takes full advantage. She's the Queen of the pasture, rightfully so. Dee lives here with us until her days on earth are over, as all our working horses do.

Long story short, we had two underwriters in the US for insurance. One of them sent many of us certified letters saying they were no longer insuring horse and carriage, leaving one company. They told us they would re insure us at $10000 minimum a year and for coverage less than what the cities I've worked in required.
I'm a single mom. I'm trying to keep my farm afloat. I don't make a ton of money. This was a devastating blow for me. It was not something I could have predicted, to pay $8k more than I previously had been. I simply don't have that kind of money after a divorce and starting my life over after an absolutely life destroying last two years .
So I'm looking for sponsors in exchange for being on my carriage banners at any public event. We do Christmas events and were working towards historical tours in KC. I've got a social media following of 120k people, your business will be seen, I promise.
