GOT ROOM IN YOUR HEART FOR A FUR BABY? Permanent, loving homes are needed for cats rescued from the High Point hoarding situation. Two of my friends are involved in finding homes for these animals and have been coordinating veterinary care for them. Most of them are actually in very good health and are friendly. There are 12 to 15 adult cats up to 5 years old, males and females, all of which have been neutered /spayed and and vaccinated (some cats may need a second vaccine). There are also 5 or 6 kittens. Adopting families must keep the cats indoors and provide regular health care.

We are going into the coyote mating season. No need to live in fear, just do a few extra things this time of year. January and February they are extemely agressive and active. Coyotes will be on the prowl looking for food. This is when they will get close to humans to get food. They have been known to scale a 12ft fence with ease. I’ve had them clear my fence, not touching it at all. I won’t post the pictures/videos from house cameras of people trying to catch the coyotes who have their dog or cat in their mouths. It’s truly heartbreaking. A coyote can literally wait in the shadows; you take your little dog out for potty break and turn your head and that is how long it can take for you to lose your precious fur baby. They have adapted to being the best skilled hunters and they go into peoples backyards all the time and on front porches.

Easy things you can do.

*Light up your entire yard and go outside without your dogs first and make some noise. Then bring them out on leash if they don’t come when called with distractions. If they are trained for come when called keep them close don’t give free range.
If a coyote knows it can grab and run before you can get to it, the coyote will try.

You DON’T need to disturb your neighbors. Use correct lighting and tap some pots together or clap and yell.
*remember, you aren’t clanging for your life you are just scaring off and making your presence known.
