Decluttering and organizing takes time and can be hard work. So definitely don’t beat yourself up as you go. Keep your focus on where you are headed, not on where you have been.

Happy Monday. Here's your tip: It is very tempting to put something down rather than away. We tell ourselves we will put it away later, but then life gets in the way and it never happens. If you can, push yourself to get the item to its final destination in the moment. You'll appreciate it later when you're looking for it. I promise.

Don't ya hate it when the tools fall all over themselves and get tangled up. Here's a cool way to corral those suckers. The labeling seems a bit excessive but rock on with it if it works for you.

Somehow I pounded through the rest of the attic. The photo is fuzzy but I think you can see how far back it went. That's good exercise right there. Also, I was bringing a fairly large box down from the attic (fold down stairs are so fun) and a sweet little mouse hopped out of the box onto my shoulder. You can imagine the flailing and flying. I didn't realize that I had bashed my finger on something until I saw my bright purple finger yesterday morning. It's fine and we put mouse/mice box outside.

The tip of the day: Please think about what you are storing in your attic. Yesterday I spent the day in my client's attic. Got 1/3 of it cleared out with 1400 pounds of trash to the dump. The good news is that my Ebay friends picked through the trash as I was bringing it down and may have found lots of treasure. Lots of things that were once wonderful were ruined by the heat and (inevitable) mice.

Some of my projects are doozies. This house is now empty. I moved the very spunky woman to assisted living. She still has some clutter issues, unfortunately. We're working on it.

I like hanging clear shoe organizers! You can have one on the inside of every door in my house. One in the entryway for hats, gloves and scarves, another in the garage for nails, screwdrivers and smaller items and one in the bathroom for trial-size items. Use one in the kitchen for spices and small bags and another in the linen closet for washcloths and pillow cases. The kids bedrooms for school supplies. And of course, one in the closet for shoes —

Oh dear, the laundry. It never ends. Put a laundry basket in every (occupied) bedroom. And when it's full have the kid bring it to the laundry room. You are NOT the maid. Thank you
