So we have some VERY BIG and VERY EXCITING news to share. After 418 days in the shelter, Timber, now Goose, was adopted into his new forever home!!!! We want to thank everyone who shared Timber's story, especially the Denton Animal Support Foundation and Maria Fonseca. It was a combination of posts that Timber's new family saw and responded to.

We want to give an extra special thank you to Kate Juliao, one of our amazing volunteers, who spent over two hours on the weekend, allowing Timber to meet his new family and ultimately get adopted!

Meet Timber: the most patient, sweet boy waiting for his forever home at the Highland Village Animal Shelter. Timber is a three-year-old lab-pit mix with a medium-energy level, perfect for someone looking for an adventure buddy who also enjoys cuddle time. He is neutered and up to date on vaccines.

Timber loves walks and playing fetch, chasing toys, chest rubs, hugs, and chew sticks, and would do best in a single dog home with no cats. While Timber may be a little wary of new people at first, give him a chance, and you will have a best friend for life. Timber is one amazing dog and an absolute favorite among our volunteers.

If you're ready to give this deserving boy a chance at a better life, contact Wes at 469-444-0915. https://tx-highlandvillage.civicplus.com/795/Adopt-a-Shelter-Pet

The Highland Village Animal Shelter operates under the Police Department, enforcing city ordinances and state laws related to animals. The Animal Care Unit is led by one Animal Care Officer, Wes Fiddes, a highly trained professional certified by the Texas Department of State Health Services. Wes investigates and addresses issues such as stray or dangerous animals, nuisance complaints, injured or ill animals, and reports of cruelty or neglect.

Since 2014, Wes has worked to keep our community safe through pet education, enforcement of animal laws, and reuniting lost pets with their owners. He oversees all animal services in Highland Village, including adoptions and shelter operations, and manages over 1,000 service calls annually. In addition to being a TACA-certified Animal Cruelty Investigator, Wes serves as the city’s liaison to the Dangerous Dog Advisory Board, the Animal Shelter Advisory Board, and the Local Rabies Control Authority.

Wes is dedicated to providing compassionate care for all pets, reducing the number of stray animals, minimizing the spread of diseases like rabies, and preventing animal-related injuries. Please join us in thanking Wes for his tireless efforts to protect the people and animals of Highland Village. We are lucky to have him!

It is with a heavy heart that we have some sad news to share with everyone. Buttercup went in yesterday morning to be spayed due to a suspected pyometra at our veterinarian's recommendation and unfortunately, crossed the rainbow bridge on the surgery table. Medical staff determinedly attempted lifesaving procedures including CPR but Buttercup never woke up. We are immensely grateful to everyone who shared her story and worked so hard to help her find a forever home. Buttercup was deeply loved and will be sorely missed.

Please take a moment to hug your pets or loved ones a little tighter today, as life is precious, and moments like this remind us how important it is to cherish every one of them.
