📣📣📣📣 A big Happy Birthday and welcome to the world to our Back To The Future litter! These puppies joined us on Monday and have been thriving under their wonderful mother’s care. ❤️ Lucy was given a due date a couple days earlier, by our vet, but, as requested, she held out to grant puppy daddy his birthday wish. Brutus now gets to share his birthday with his first litter of puppies! 🎂 🥳 Lucy is the best mama. It’s already been a pleasure to help raise this litter with her. So excited to see these kids grow up. Brutus n Burton

When you’ve got mountain dogs and live in the shadow of gorgeous mountains, fall hikes are obligatory. 🍁💛🍂🧡Hot springs and waterfalls are an added bonus. Shout out to my husband for packing our toddler up the mountain while Phyllis and Maedli packed everything else.

Phoenix was my very first Swissy. She made me fall head over heels in love with the breed and all things dog sports. She has always been willing to try any competition I’ve asked of her. However, being a show dog is her very favorite game. Having turned 7 in June, she qualifies as a veteran now. So back into the show ring she went last weekend. And she ROCKED it! This beauty came home with big fancy 🙌Group One!🙌 So so proud of her and so grateful she got to come run around the ring with me again.❤️ (As a fun side note, the veteran group judge taught Phoenix’s grandpa’s obedience class. Made for a fun “full circle” moment.)

The rest of the weekend, Lucy and Maedli showed off their dog show skills, both taking home major wins. Along with some other fantastic wins for Blue Hill and Alpenblick, this show was a great success all around.

(Summer update continued. 2 of 2)

After a busy couple of weeks, we hustled up to Blackfoot Idaho 🥔 for one of our favorite shows, made even better with the addition of the Cascade Great Swiss Mountain Dog Club sponsored specialty. The *great* turn out of wonderful dogs made it all the more thrilling to have Phyllis earn Winners Bitch and Best of Winners 2 of the 4 days, finishing her championship with a bang!!! 🏆 As an extra sweet bonus, Phyllis’ win was the icing on the cake that earned her dad, Ranger, his ROM! To have Robbie and Phyllis finish back to back like that made my heart so proud of these beautiful girls! ❤️ Robbie tagged along to add three more Fast CAT runs towards her DCAT. If I wasn’t already proud to bursting for my girls, the Eagle Rock Kennel Club hosted the cutest “air buddy” event, allowing any little kids that wanted to participate to strut their stuff around the ring with their balloon show dogs. 😍

So grateful for these wonderful dogs, for my husband holding down the fort while we’re away, my parents for their excellent toddler handling skills (my daughter *lives* for her grandpa!), and all our amazing swissy friends and community for all their support and guidance that has gotten us this far! It takes a village and boy did I ever luck into a good one.

Our summer shows are over for the moment. After a very hectic start to the summer in our family, it’s about time I post an update on the recent exciting events! This will have to be a two parter - a lot has happened. Here’s part 1 of 2.

Phyllis picked up a nice major at the Utah Valley Kennel Club in May. 🥇

Two weeks later, Phyllis picked up a BOS the day before Robbie earned her last needed win, going Best of Breed 💜💛, to finish her championship at the Mt Ogden Kennel Club show!🏆 She got to play her favorite sport, Fast CAT, a couple of times earning points towards her DCAT. 🏁 At the same show, Phyllis got her first shot at Barn Hunt and was awarded her instinct (RATI) title.

Phoenix and Maedli got out of the house over Memorial Day to help showcase our dogs’ abilities to pack, draft, and weight pull at the Soldier Hollow Sheepdog Classic (Phoenix and Maedli were pack demo dogs that day.) Little Miss Adi even participated as Doune’s drafting passenger! 🛷 Seriously, how cute are they?! 😍

Happy 7th Birthday to our OG girl! 🥳 Can’t believe that Phoenix is a veteran now! 🤯 Still as wonderful and gorgeous as ever, I am so excited to get to take her back into the show ring again soon. Since day one, she has always been game to try whatever sport or activity I tossed her way, but conformation was always a favorite of hers. So while I hate to see her get any older, grateful for this milestone because I always swore to her that she could show again when she “grew up.” Happy Birthday beauty, and to all of your Blue Hill trekkie littermates as well! 🎂 A special shoutout to Megan at Blue Hill for being willing to send this special lady home with me and completely changing my life for nothing but the better! ❤️

7️⃣ weeks today for the boys. They got their clean bills of health and their first shots last week. (Though if you look at Fred’s face, you’d think he was worried the teacher found him cheating on the test rather than acing with flying colors 🤣) It’s time to really get busy socializing the boys. So if you, your family, your friends, your date that you don’t know what to plan for, co-workers, neighbors, etc need puppy snuggles, DM me! Our family is getting over a bug. So we’ll probably be waiting a few more days to have people over, but we can at least work out a schedule with you!

Early crate training part 2: the aftermath. 💤

Fred has taken to crate training like he was born for it. Ricky…has other opinions on this “torture.” (check the previous post) 🤣 And yet, even when time is up, they can come out, and I open the doors for them, they don’t budge. Not so bad after all, eh kids?

Did you know that swissy tails aren’t naturally blurry? 🤔 I’ve been telling Ricky that fact for weeks, but he obviously doesn’t believe me. Seriously. The majority of his pictures aren’t in full focus, capturing the constant blur of his ever wagging tail. Just the happiest of boys.

A belated Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our home to yours! We have been busy soaking up time with family. We finished out our shows for the year by heading to the Greater Swiss Mountain Dog National Specialty in Santa Rosa California this past week with our Blue Hill cobreeder. We only took my human “puppy” with us, but enjoyed seeing and cheering for a slew of beautiful swissys from around the country come to strut their stuff. Shout out to the GGGSMDC and the GSMDCA for putting on a great show! Hours upon hours of preparation go into these events and it shows. These shows are certainly not for the faint of heart. Well done to all involved and to all the exhibitors! It was a pleasure to watch and attend (so much so that we got caught up in the fun and nearly missed our flight home. Ha ha I think I lost five years off my life with the stress of racing to get packed, catch our uber, get through TSA, and run to our plane!)

In September, Robbie got her second major, a few more points, and is just shy of finishing her championship. Maedli got her first major. Phyllis was just happy to play show dog this time around.

It’s been quite an exciting fall for us, but I’ve been slacking in posting. It’s a weakness for me, that I am not proud of. So here we go, I’m doing my best to remedy that. Watch for a couple of update posts to follow.

First off, in August Cosmo, formerly Dwight from our Dundies litter, and his favorite family member and BRAND NEW *JUNIOR* handler entered the show ring. This was the very first time even attending a show for both Cosmo and Chloe, let alone getting in the ring. Despite the novice nerves, they both showed beautifully together and my breeder heart could not be an ounce more proud of this amazing team! They walked away with his first points…and a MAJOR! Way to go Team Cosmo!!! I’m so excited to see what they accomplish in the future. 💙
