When people ask me about my dog Tofu's age, and I reply "Going on 8 1/2 years old" they are always stunned.

The other day I had someone mistake her for a puppy.

Even as an XL breed at 120 lbs, she has barely any grey hairs and she's active, happy and puppy-like.

The secret?

She has never been fed kibble (aka processed, 'dead' food) but always fresh, whole foods. I feed her the rainbow of vegetables and rotate her proteins often.

She was raised on raw food, and now in her older years, she gets gently cooked food with some raw additions here and there in forms of whole sardines and organ meats.

She also lives in a very low-stress environment (stress is a major factor in many degenerative diseases) and of course gets loved up on often!

At DCSPCA, we’re dedicated to supporting families by offering affordable spay/neuter surgeries for dogs and cats. Our service pricing includes anesthesia and post-operative pain relief, ensuring your pet's comfort throughout the process.

For dogs, we require proof of a negative heartworm test from the past 12 months, and for both cats and dogs, proof of current rabies vaccination. If these aren't available, don't worry—our team can provide them on the day of surgery for an additional fee. Surgical appointments can be easily booked over the phone. When scheduling, a non-refundable $50 deposit will be required, and the remaining balance, along with any additional services, can be settled on the day of your pet’s appointment.
