Today is , a reminder that knowing how to save a life—especially our furry friends—can make all the difference. While having to administer CPR to your pet can be terrifying, being prepared can help you act calmly and confidently in an emergency.

Stay Calm:
1️⃣ Breathe: Take a few deep breaths to steady yourself. Focus on the feeling of the air filling your lungs.
2️⃣ Delegate: If there are bystanders, assign them tasks like finding the nearest emergency vet.
3️⃣ Focus: Keep your mind clear. Concentrate on the steps ahead and stay in the moment.

When to Start CPR:
🐾 Your pet isn’t responding
🐾 Your pet isn’t breathing
🐾 You can’t feel a heartbeat or pulse

How to Perform CPR:
Compressions:
❤️ Position your pet on their side.
❤️ Deliver 120 compressions per minute (2 per second).
❤️ For every 30 compressions, give 2 breaths.

Breaths:
❤️ Close your pet’s mouth and seal it with your fingers.
❤️ Cover their nose and give 2 breaths—enough to make their chest rise.
❤️ Check for a heartbeat after 2 minutes. If there’s no pulse, continue.

When to Stop CPR:
🐾 Your pet starts breathing and responding
🐾 You reach the vet clinic and they take over
🐾 You can’t continue physically
🐾 Your pet starts breathing but is still unconscious

Recovery Position:
Place your pet’s head to the side, slightly tilting down (unless there’s head trauma).

Compression Techniques:
🐶 Medium to Large Dogs: Compress one third of the chest depth.
🐱 Small Dogs/Cats: Use your thumb and fingers for compression, or compress directly over the heart.

Stay prepared and know that you can make a difference in your pet's life! ❤️

Early detection is the key to success in the long run. My mother found a lump on the outside of her breast and was able to immediately alert her doctor. When she was told she had cancer, she was advised that she was lucky that she caught it so early. She had a surgery to remove it and underwent chemotherapy. It has been over 10 years since and she has not gotten it back. Please ladies get yourselves checked. Even if you are 30, 35, start now. You never know. I personally make my doctors give me mammograms every year because of my family history. Unfortunately in my family, cancer seems common.

Cancer is a b*tch, but we can beat it if we catch it early and stay strong. I hope one day there will be a treatment that prevents cancer from forming.

Please remind your female friends and family members to get checked today!

Update from Artemis, now renamed Marley's parents!

"Artemis (aka Marley) finished her last puppy shots, started Obedience classes last week, and got her first new groomer visit. Every day since she finished her shots she has enjoyed walks of a couple miles on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail.

Marley has her first boyfriend walking buddy (Brody, a 23 lb Cavapoo) and they get alot of attention walking shoulder to shoulder frequently touching noses. They really love each other. They have also had a few back porch play dates of spirited retrieving and sharing toys.

Marley aged out of the basic and advanced puppy classes because the vet wanted her to complete her 3rd DHPP before any exposure in group training lessons first but adter her shots Top Notch let her jump right in to the Obedience class and she is the star of the class by a wide margin. Her temperament, through the roof cuteness, eagerness to please and progress are getting rave reviews from trainers, groomers, and admiring strangers.

House training has been perfect since the last update and she seems to have mastered ringing the door k**b potty sleighbells with both her snout or paws with increasing vigor.

Best Regards
Larry and Maureen"
