Adopt little Nugget!
He is ready for his forever family!
He is a 4lb King Charles cavalier born on 10/22/24. He is vision impaired in both eyes, perhaps only seeing shadows. The vets he saw both agreed he was born without the lenses in his eyes. He is not running into things at his foster home, so possible there is some very limited vision.
He definitely doesn't let that slow him down! He is the best snuggler and loves to be cuddled. He is not afraid of other dogs, will bark, bite, and hop around trying to get them to play. He enjoys toys and has done well with crate training. He has not yet had leash experience (how can you not just carry him around??) and is not yet potty trained.

Since he is too small to be neutered, potential adopters will need to agree to bring him to our Freedom Tails vets for his surgery when he gets a little bigger. The neuter is covered in his adoption fee.

Nugget is the sweetest little baby, guaranteed to make you fall in love instantly!

Greenbean was previously adopted and then abandoned by her adopter we reclaimed her at the shelter.

She will wonder off and requires a fence.
She moves at a snail’s pace in the yard, and is getting better at going potty outside (not quite house trained yet). She loves going on walks and is quite content to mosey along at her own pace. (NOTE: If you are looking for a dog that can train for a marathon with you, GreenBean is NOT your gal. Perhaps she can hang out on the sidewalk and cheer you on!) She needs her new people to be patient, take the time to continue her house training, and show her that she is in a safe and loving home. She is a bit timid with meeting new people, but has been around young children, other adults, and friendly dogs - and she does warm up the more she gets used to them. Big recent milestones - she likes to sit near you on the couch, and also takes treats from your hand! Fully vetted and fostered in Columbus. Apply at FreedomTailsOhio.com.

These chunky monkeys, Clinton and Walter are sending off an Embark DNA test today 🧬 to confirm what the father is.

Mama is a beautiful Ruby Cavalier. I think both parents are Cavaliers!

Let’s have a Magical Monday instead of $5 Friday and make some Magic happen for these two pups!

Another hard week financially for us but a lucky one for these two!!!

Birdie and Luna will both be at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center today and tomorrow for corrective heart surgery for PDA’s.

PDA -Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital heart defect in puppies that occurs when the ductus arteriosus, a blood vessel that normally closes after birth, remains open.

EACH surgery is estimated to be between $3,500- 5,000. They are both already in heart failure and without this surgery they will have no chance at survival. With this surgery the PDA will be corrected the heart will return to normal size and they both have a chance to live a normal lifespan.

That’s how amazing this surgery is for dogs like this!!

Pictures with Miss Cindy Lou and Welly 1 day post op with their surgeons, Dr. Fernandez and Dr Seger ❤️

We are grateful for The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center and ALL the staff there. They have helped us to save countless lives in the cardiology and soft tissue departments!

As we wander (literally we feel like we are wandering) into just the first week of 2025 with already 6 heart pups we can’t thank you enough for your ongoing support of these little nuggets.

Without this team at OSU, our supporters, fosters and me never being able to say no these babes wouldn’t have a chance!!!

Here’s to a crazy 2024 and a more prepared 2025!!!

Adoption pending

Adopt Fluff a Bug
Aka Figgaroinie, Buggie boo, Bug the Nug.

Female 16week old mini poodle mix.
She came to us with an awful heart condition and had an PDA repaire at OSU a month ago and is cleared now for adoption. There is no concerns moving forward on her heart. It was corrected.
She loves other dogs and is doing fabulous with her house training. She is a snuggly playful puppy. She will require regular grooming. She is behind on her vaccines due to her surgery but they have been started. She will not come spayed as she is required to wait 6 months after her surgery to be fixed. This is not negotiable. The adopter will be required to come back to our vet to get this done and the appointment will be scheduled by us.
Adopter will be responsible for finishing the vaccines.

Please note we do a lot of heart surgeries on puppies at Freedom Tails Ohio and each of them cost $4-5,000. We fundraise as much as we can to keep adoption fees as low as we can. However, effective Jan 2025 we have raised the adoption fee of all Heart puppies to $1500.00 to help off set the cost of the care they required. NO need to complain we know it’s high but to continue to be able to do this many heart pups we have to raise the adoption fees. If you can not spend that much we completely understand and have many other dogs ranging from $275-600.

Fence, Another dog close to her size, live in the Columbus area to return for vetting in 6 months.

Meet Nova
You can see from the photos she is quite the looker. Nova has the softest fur and she is gentle and quiet except when she walks, it sounds like a dinosaur has entered the room. She came to the rescue because her legs have some deformity but it does not affect her ability to walk or run. Nova has elbow dysplasia in the front legs and hip dysplasia in the rear.

She does get a little stiff in her legs and her gait is abnormal. She will be a big dog and will require space to grow and play. Nova loves to chew, play with toys and hang out with the other dogs in her foster home. She loves kids, is good in her crate , is learning to walk on a leash and potty training is a work in progress. She cannot get enough of the cold weather and typically finds the coldest place in the house to sleep. She is up to date on age appropriate vaccines, and is microchipped. She is not spayed to allow more time for bone development/growth. Spay will be responsibility of adopter.

And adopter must understand surgery is likely in her future and be able to afford her care. We have done all the diagnostic work lots and lots of x rays and exams but we can not assist in her multiple surgeries needed at this time.

Jersey and Callie both weigh 15 pounds. They are bonded sisters. Both are fully vetted and potty trained. They do not walk on a leash. Jersey and Callie do not like the feel of grass, and prefer to stay on their foster mom's large deck. They have been around children over the age of 6. They have seen cats and did not react. The girls have a large pen to sleep in and are constantly together. Jersey is still timid. Jersey and Callie are groomed every 9 weeks.

The trifecta of warrior Wednesday!

If you saw the other post about these 3 little muppet babies here’s the update!!! And more begging for donations!!

Tonight in the ICU, we have 3 cages side by side at The Ohio State University Veterinary Medical Center And ALL 3 had very successful surgeries today!

We aren’t surprised, as we know how fabulous the doctors are at our beloved OHIO State!!

Three amazing LIFE saving stories that still need funding!!!

These surgeries could NOT wait, their little lives depended on it!

1. Welly is a Welsh terrier with PRAA (Persistent right aortic arch is a cardiovascular disease in dogs that occurs when the right aortic arch doesn't regress after birth as it normally should) this results in him having mega esophagus (can’t swallow) and requires surgery to correct his malformations and allow him to be able to swallow his food and for the blood to flow correctly. PRAA is a vascular ring anomaly that happens when a fetal blood vessel doesn't regress as the puppy develops.

2. Cindy Lou is a poodle mix with a PDA (Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital heart defect in puppies that occurs when the ductus arteriosus, a blood vessel that normally closes after birth, remains open)

3. Laker is a poodle mix with a PDA (Patent ductus arteriosus (PDA) is a congenital heart defect in puppies that occurs when the ductus arteriosus, a blood vessel that normally closes after birth, remains open)

We have raised $2200 of the $18,000 needed to pay these bills and we have 2 more heart surgeries needed this month for other dogs!

Bichon/poodle mix

This happy little guy is ready to become part of your family. He plays with toys and wants to be with people all the time. He has been neutered and received his shots and microchip. He is doing very well with house training and uses the p*e pad at night. Austin loves dogs and is interested in the cats. He does not bark much and does not necessarily need a fence if watched. He has not been around small children yet, but loves the teenagers here.
