💰 Cash 💰
Cash is a 2016 grade appaloosa gelding. He stands 15.2 with heavy bone and nice feet. Cash has had the same owner since he was a yearling and together, they have had many fun adventures including fox hunts and many miles of trail riding. It’s with a heavy heart that Cash’s owner has made the decision to find him a new home as she is getting out of riding, and he is too nice to sit in a pasture.
Cash is an in your pocket type of guy, he loves attention and is always first to greet you in the pasture. He gets along with most other horses, though he does tend to be the boss in the herd. He is a very easy keeper and is currently barefoot. Cash is great for the vet, farrier, and chiropractor. He can sit for periods of time and then go back to work.
Cash will require an intermediate rider as he is forward, smart, and sensitive under saddle. He does not buck/rear/bite/kick and is not herd bound but can get frustrated if he doesn’t understand what his rider is asking. He has a little more go than whoa but isn’t hot and will easily come back to you when asked. Cash is not spooky and not much bothers him, he is very confident and will trailer out alone to new places and isn’t bothered by his new surroundings. He will do just about every obstacle you point him at, and you can carry a flag or crack a whip off him.
Cash has been predominantly ridden outside during his life and does not have as much arena experience. He will move off your legs, side pass and has general buttons but is not finished and would require an experienced rider to teach him more arena skills. With the right partner we think he would do great at lower-level dressage or working equitation.
Cash was diagnosed with hock arthritis last year and gets his hocks injected when needed (has had them done once last year and once this year). He has been treated by Oakhurst Vet and all medical records can be made available.
It is very important to Cash’s owner that he f

In case anyone was wondering how smooth Pretzel is ☕️

Ride #1 on Pretzel 🥨
She did amazing! We usually do the first couple rides in the round pen with one person on the ground helping to push and guide the horse. For Pretzel, since she’s so smart and sensible, we decided she would be ok starting out in the big arena. She needed very little assistance from the person on the ground and when she would get worried she thought through it and tried really hard to find the right answer. She’s going to make someone a really great riding horse! Pretzel will be available for adoption once she’s going well under saddle 😊

So proud of Buddy!
Buddy came in as a re-start with some saddle anxiety and severe head shyness. This was his first ride in over a year and his first ride ever with a bit. We work really hard to keep the transition from groundwork to riding as stress free and easy as possible and Buddy is a great representation of that, way to go Buddy!

🥨 Pretzel Update 🥨
Last week we have been working on saddling and all the skills we need to check off before her first ride.
It’s unknown whether Pretzel has had any previous experience with being ridden, she seems to know things but at the same time she’s so smart and willing we can’t tell if this is stuff she’s already done or if she’s just a really good girl 😂
Regardless, we have gone back like we do with all our training horses and make sure she’s checking all of the boxes before we throw a leg over.
Pretzel has struggled with being in a hurry to go somewhere, mentally checking out and not paying attention to her person.
It’s really important that our horses look to us for guidance and ask questions rather than mentally checking out. We don’t want horses that just go through the motions or “self lunge” as we often refer to it. We want them to be mentally engaged, looking to their person and ultimately enjoying their job.
So here is a video of Pretzel walking and then turning in to check with me, which may be boring but often times it’s the boring stuff that’s the most important.

Buddy understood the assignment ✔️
We have been having a lot of fun with our new car wash obstacles! Special thank you to Ken and Gayle Ostgard for making these for us!

Juliet Update!
In the beginning it didn’t feel like this mare would ever be this comfortable with me or people in general. She had such a deep distrust and it took us a long time to get here but where we are at now has made the journey so worth it. She’s made me a better horseman and I love and am so grateful for the bond and connection we have. She’s a special mare, and I feel so blessed to be apart of her journey. ♥️

We had the most wonderful day yesterday! We hauled Juliet and Jett out to Mt. Hood Equestrian Center, it would be Jett’s first time hauling out since he was brought to us as an unhandled stallion.
To be totally transparent, we weren’t expecting them to do as well as they did. Both horses have limited life and hauling experience, both were pretty feral when we had gotten them and Jett had been a stallion just a few months ago.
Both horses hauled like a dream. They stepped off the trailer like old broke ponies. Juliet was a little concerned at first about the workers out cleaning up the trail course, but she kept very quiet and calm.
When we worked them in the arena first, they both acted just like they do at home. Neither was nervous or bothered by their new surroundings.
Then we went outside to the trail course, both horses completed each trail obstacle with ease and both were so calm and attentive to their handler. We would be working on either side of the course and neither of them got worried about the other leaving or being by themselves.
The only obstacle that took any time was the water crossing. After a few moments of quiet persuasion Juliet went in, Jett soon followed seeing that she hadn’t drown 😂
Jett actually laid down in the water and both had fun splashing and rooting around. Juliet thought about laying down, but wasn’t quite secure enough this time around.
We ended our day with some hand grazing before loading up to go home.
All and all, it was a really calm and relaxing day which is not how I had expected to describe their first outing together. They had so much fun and built so much confidence. We couldn’t be happier ♥️
