Yup! We agree! FOSTER or ADOPT today! 🐾😁🐾 By doing this, you actually save 2 lives - the life of your new pet (*SCORE for humanity*), as well as the animal who now has a safe spot to land due to kennel space opening up (*DOUBLE SCORE FOR HUMANITY*)

When you foster or adopt, it leaves space for the intakes that are in true need of our help. Some are abused, mangy, feral, and they need extra tlc. It's the *MOST REWARDING* thing for me to rescue an animal - & imagine feeling that way too, every single time that you look into the eyes of your new shelter pet 🥰 ...you go on to lead a happier life because *YOU* did something for an animal in need 🥰 and something I've found - they often rescue you, too 😉💔🔜❤️‍🩹

Lily & Roxanne will be at Rural King in Litchfield TOMORROW!!!

SUNDAY, 1/7 from NOON-when we decide to pack it up (usually around 4:30, 5:00)

Not only that, but heyyyyy, all you cool cats & kitten-lovers out there [shout-out to Carole Baskins] - we've heard you...we aren't leaving you out this time! There will be several cats at Rural King who are available for adoption/fostering/foster-to-adopt as well!!!!!!!!!! 🐈‍⬛🐈🐈‍⬛🐈

For those seeing our posts & wondering, their status depends on their medical criteria met for adoption - aka shots, microchip, spay/neuter. It also depends upon what commitment a person is willing to make to the animal.

We offer temporary & permanent fostering. A temporary foster makes a commitment to foster for however long they're willing/able then if no permanent home is found by that deadline, we accept the animal back or find alternate placement for the animal. A permanent foster is someone who agrees to foster that animal until he/she becomes adopted by someone else! We are working the kinks out & trying to become more efficient, so if you are CURRENTLY a foster or a foster in the future, we'd like updated pictures sent to us (messenger is fine!) so that we can consistently post your foster pet in order to find him/her a great home!

Foster-to-adopt means that the person is willing to adopt the animal once he/she becomes neutered/spayed. Once that happens, their status becomes "adoptable" & you fill out offical adoption paperwork at that stage. With a foster-to-adopt option, you are making more of a commitment than just a foster commitment, you're saying that you DO want to officially adopt the animal, we just have to jump through the legal hoops in order to do it. Legally, we must spay/neuter, microchip, & have our animals up-to-date on their shots in order to adopt them out. Sometimes, a spay/neuter appointment isn't able to be made in time & this is why people choose this particular option, out of pure necessity.

Our volunteers will also have a cash donation bin! The earnings will go toward the medical fund that helps to support the animals who come in with extra care needs. We are also working on starting a nonprofit for this medical fund & will accept any & all name suggestions for this fund - we're so bogged down with getting organized that our creative juices just aren't flowing right now 🤷‍♀️

For those who are new to adopting/fostering a shelter pet, this 3-3-3 rule is a FANTASTIC thing to consult when trying to understand the perspective of your new pet. Think about your entire life being completely upended & all of a sudden ending up in a loud, kennel environment. So, please consider that these dogs & cats are just a victim of their circumstances most of the time & have ended up in the shelter to no fault of their own. You'd be surprised the trivial reasons why people surrender their dogs to us and the stories we hear & we just want the best for these animals. People have let them down in the past & when they enter our facility, we'd like for that to be the turning point in that animal's life so that they never have to be without food, shelter, or love ever again 🥰

Meet our cute lil Bean! She's estimated to be a 1-2 year old lab mix. She is absolutely SO sweet! She loves getting loved on - she gives you her paw, then a double paw, & will roll over & give her belly for rubs. She's on the smaller side for a lab & is dog-friendly! She'd most likely do great with children & cats as well! Please consider fostering or adopting Bean - she deserves a fantastic home!!! 🥰 Check out her videos in the comments!
