You won't see baby and dog cuddling pictures on this page, as I keep my dogs a minimum of 3 feet from my babies for the first 8 weeks.

Today was my last day of private sessions. Pack Walks will continue and are scheduled out for the coming months. Boarding also remains open for current and past clients, although there are limitations to space available, so it's always best to book a spot ahead of time as soon as you know dates! ..

As devastating as it is for a dog to be under socialized, it is also possible to over socialize a pup.
Good intentions can lead so many well meaning owners into accidentally creating a reactive and fearful, or pushy and rude dog.
Calm and Neutral are the best responses to teach you dog to have.

I don't know what is in the air lately, but I have seen SO MANY ear infections lately!
In most cases, ear infections don't go away on their own and can become much bigger problems if left untreated.
Your dog’s ears should be cleaned at least once a month, more often if your dog is prone to ear problems, or swims often.
Check you dogs ears for dirt, scratches, parasites, or discharge. There shouldn’t be any unpleasant odor.
Keep ears dry and clean, but avoid using drying agents is the ear.
some signs that your dog may have an ear infection are scratching the ear more than usual.
Head shaking, especially if it looks unnatural or awkward.
Swelling and redness around the ear canal.

Beginning next month, I will be hosting a second walk each month, a 1pm option, in addition to the usual 10am.
I try to plan the dates out a couple months. If you ever need to know when the next one is you can always pop over to my Facebook and find future walks in the events tab.
Miss ChaCha is staying for a 2 week board and train.
She's come in for biting her people without hesitation.
This is a case where the e-collar is not my proposed solution.
I don't believe ChaCha knows commands and is refusing to listen. I believe she is fearful of pain, and preventively trying to protect herself.
She dealt with some painful infections for nearly 6 months, and now that she's healing, she remembers the discomfort and doesn't trust hands not to harm her.
This is a case of relearning, and reinforcing trust.
Sometimes we need to draw a line in the sand and hold the boundary.
Sometimes we need to soften our hands and hearts, and extend forgiveness.
New baby Drake is due August 2024.
Boarding will remain open, pack walks will continue as normal!
Dogs do not grow out of any behavior.
If you do not address a behavior you dislike, your dog or puppy will grow more confident and comfortable and the behavior will increase.
Depending on the issue, you may have to deter by issuing negative consequences, redirect, or withhold positive reinforcement.
However you choose to do it, you have to address behavior you disagree with in some way.

My little apprentice. She says what I say, and does what I do.
The majority of dog training looks really boring from the outside. However, this kind of thing, the sitting, waiting, building neutrality, and positive experiences is incredibly important. Arguably more important than dealing with the huge reactions that get so much attention on social media.

Another issue ChaCha had when she first came in was the walk. She pulled on the leash. Due to her injury I did not want to use anything around her neck to give corrections. But she turned out to be such a soft girl, that a front clip harness was all she needed.
What a turn out for the monthly Pack Walk! I know I say this every time, but I am seriously SO PROUD of each owner who puts in the time to make these a part of their weekend.

Check out the Full Reel by @dogtrainerofficial . Straight to the juice for my short attention span folks. This is EXACTLY the practice I am talking about when I say call your dog 80 times. Each time you pay for a recall, you also deposit one in the bank for later. If you're always withdrawing and not adding, you'll run into this issue quickly.
