This is a time lapse of about 8 minutes. This is the practical training I like to do. I wanted to go into the coffee shop and grab a nice warm drink so I put my dogs in a down stay and happily got my coffee. This pup use to refuse to walk on a leash. He would sit or lay down and that was it. After a few sessions he was like a different dog!
Today we worked on something we haven’t done in a long time. Group downs. Group downs are great if you need to quickly stop all your dogs from moving. I use them if I see someone approaching and don’t want my dogs to run up to them. I use them if they are getting too rowdy and need a break for a minute. If an off leash dog runs up on us I can put my dogs in a down so that all my attention can be on the approaching dog. It’s one of my favorite commands!
Muzzled dogs are good dogs too! Dogs wear muzzled for all sorts of reasons!
