🐾 TNR Program in Highland County is Starting! 🐾
We’re excited to announce that while we’re not ready for a full-fledged TNR program yet, we’re dipping our toes into it to help the stray/community cats in our area! 🐱
What is TNR?
TNR stands for Trap-Neuter-Return. This humane practice involves trapping stray cats, getting them spayed/neutered, vaccinated for rabies, and ear-tipped before returning them to their original location. 🪤🐾
What’s an ear tip?
It’s a small, painless procedure that marks the cat’s ear to show they’ve been spayed or neutered. It’s a universal sign that helps people know from a distance that the cat has been cared for—no belly-checks needed! 🐾💉
We’ll be starting small, trapping 2-4 cats at a time to make this manageable. But we need your help to make this successful! 🛠️❤️
How You Can Help:
1️⃣ Let us know about locations with 8 or more stray/community cats.
2️⃣ Be willing to allow traps to be set on your property and for the cats to be released back after surgery.
3️⃣ Understand that some cats are not suited for indoor homes—TNR is the best solution for their well-being and for managing overpopulation.
***We are looking for volunteers to help us transport empty traps, cats to and from surgery appointments, etc.
