Just a little light reading for National Read a Book Day.

It's National Read a Book Day. Science shows that reading aloud to a dog aids children struggling with reading fluency. Children are less self conscious while reading to a pup. They open up, talk themselves through the text, start to play with voices and role play the characters adding depth to both fluency and comprehension. Dogs are great, loyal, non judgemental listeners.

Between transport, fostering, spay / neuter efforts, and adoption, PAWS has saved thousands of innocent lives, but we can't do it without your support. These quotes and Steve Irwin's mission to save wildlife has always resonated with me. I'm the weird girl who loves alligators, crocodiles, rhinos, hippos, whales, octopi, and pangolins. Really, I just love all animals. Every animal has as much right to live on this planet as humans do. Take a moment to celebrate the wild places in our world, including the ones in our backyards.
