Hoping Everyone had a very Merry Christmas and look to the New Year with positive energy and enthusiasm.
2023 was a great year at Willowmere. We saw the birth of Escalating's c**t, "Sir Bob", Barry made lots of hay, we followed the activities of our star boarders, Autumn and Sidney as they increased their equine prowess and took Levi and Johanna to multiple events. The horsemanship programs were as fun as could be with the Fullencamp and Shawhan campers. Farm projects got a boost from the hard work of Heaven and Kenneth. . . And our old troopers -Ladybug, Dowager, Johanna , and Danny - continue to help students with their lessons. We are truly blest.

R.I.P. Dora. I'd only known you for seven months, but you were a true friend. I think you enjoyed our rides together as much as I did. It was as if you could read my mind - the way you responded to my thoughts. You never said "no" to any of my requests - except this last one-that you stay with me awhile longer. Peace to you, my Friend. Patty

2022 Summer Horsemanship Programs
All sessions run Monday - Thursday, 9 A.M. "til noon. $30 per day.
Beginner : Introduces the various chores and skills needed to care for and ride horses. Any age may attend.
The first day features grooming, safety around horses, and leading. The second day focuses on chores involved
with owning a horse, i.e. cleaning stalls, cleaning tack, stable and pasture maintenance. The third day touches health concerns: vaccinations, distress signs, taking temperatures, dental care, and body condition, to name a few. Thursday is our trail day. Students are led along the trails of Willowmere by parent volunteers and apprentice horsemen. Parents are welcome to learn along with their child(ren). Dates: June 6-9 and 13-16; July 11-14 and Aug. 1-4.
Intermediate : Students must be able to ride solo at a walk and trot. The first portion of each session covers aspects of care, health and maintenance not addressed in the beginner program, e.g. first aid, nutrition, etc. The second portion is spent on horseback, refining skills and sampling some of the various disciplines of the equine world.
Dates: June 20-23 and July 18-21.
Registration must be made at least 10 days before the session. Sessions having fewer than three students may be canceled.
