Momma, Papa, and Baby….
OMG our family…we have adopted this wonderful couple who sent me this pic. If you live to farm but your body says maybe not… adopt a Matt and Dianne…your good!
Peach orchard and storms ugh….
See ya “True Grit”, you’ve sure lived up to your name. Sending one of our Barbados rams to another farm.
Gave it our best shot, but we will have to replant.
Waited long for these…
Against the odds we had another heifer born. Those who follow us know that we’ve wait years for another Highland heifer. Month ago we had our first and tragically lost her; but, God is good! Latte’ calved a healthy heifer! we finally have our girl…
She says no pics…I say she couldn’t be more beautiful when she’s in her happy place.
This kid… Definitely, my next Shepherd. He will just sit out there for hours, studying them.
Latte’ due this time next month…praying (against odds) for a heifer!
We lost 50% of this type Lavender last winter from Record low temps. But some survived…we are grateful!
Sheep are my passion but…there is an undeniable sense of “wow” in raising your own food.
“My selfie” looks cool to me (much cooler than I am)
Lambing season is like Easter and Christmas all rolled up in one. Each morning you search for your eggs and can’t wait to see what Santa left under the tree!
Calves by next weekend

Wait. Did we just make biscuits and gravy a healthy option?! 👀🙌🏼
Queso, meet lamb chorizo, your new best friend.🍻
to our spring lambs doing their lamb thing on our green, wooded pastures. Our sheep are grass-fed. 100%. That’s kinda a big deal. Feel free to ask questions about how we grow on grass and why below! 👇🏼
Lamb stew isn’t exactly the poster child of attractive foods, but my goodness does it warm the bones on a chilly first day of autumn.🙌🏽
You can come sample this classic comfort food at Harvest Local Foods this evening! We’ll be letting folks try samples to prepare you for a lamb filled holiday season.👏🏼
The first blackberries are finally coming in. They’re delicious and sweet and most of them are being eaten by the handfuls by a slew of barefoot children. Maybe we will have a few extra for jam or a cobbler or two. Outlook not good.🤷🏻♂️
Lamb isn’t on the menu tonight, but an easy and delicious bit of bruschetta? Yes, please.
This dish may seem simple, but it makes a real statement. The bread comes from The Bread Peddler. The golden tomatoes from Maggie’s Farm. Both of which you can pick up here in town.
The white balsamic is from which is crazy delicious.
Then the garlic. Our garlic. Spicy and wonderfully complimentary to our sweet and lemony basil. A few cherry tomatoes from our little kitchen garden complete the mix.
A simple dish to make. It takes just minutes. Yet supports six local businesses and farms. SIX.

Change and positive impact isn’t often fancy. It’s thoughtful. I won’t tell you to only choose local. If you only ever ate local food, you very well may miss out on countless culinary delights and adventures, but what I will ask of you? Eat thoughtfully. Swap out those super market matter for some local ones when you can. Grab garlic from a local grower when it’s available. Make purchases that make as much impact as your dollar can buy. And above all else? Eat delicious food. Real food. As often as possible.🍽
Life on a family farm can be tough. As if family doesn’t have enough drama, suddenly you’re not only family, but you’re coworkers, business partners, and your livelihood is directly tied to one another.
While that can be a beautiful thing, it can also get pretty rough in the hard times. Tensions can run high and tempers seem to burn hot in the summer heat. Come the holidays we all love each other again, but goodness gracious there can be a tough in between.
But the root of all that bickering and finger pointing? We all want to see this thing successful. We are all so invested in this farm and making it survive, and if our family relationships can survive too? Both our farm and our family are stronger for it.
Cheers to growing everyday...both in the field and as a person.🍻
