We gave this bovine a “facelift” this morning with one of Dr. Jess’ favorite procedures…Surgical Dehorn! This procedure is very stress free when proper anesthesia is administered. It is preferred for minimal pain, less scarring, reduced chances of infection, and results in a more “natural” hornless look!

Today felt like fall!

The cows are coming home and in between those appointments we had the cutest small animal patients!

All of our fall processing products have arrived and we are fully stocked for your needs! Just a reminder our Saturday hours are back up and running until next summer!

We will be planning a Feral/Farm Cat spay and neuter days soon so stay tuned for that!

My clients are friends, my kids have cried, crawled, laughed, and ran through the hallways, my staff have become family, and dreams although they have sometimes been challenging have become reality! Just a friendly reminder that Hillsboro Animal Clinic has entered our summer hours! From now until Labor Day we will be OPEN Monday-Friday 8-5 and will be CLOSED on Saturdays!

A Veterinarian will be on call to trouble shoot emergency’s and if necessary meet you for an exam; just call the clinic at 620-947-3993 for the after hours number!

Our boarding facility is the perfect spot for your pet to stay while you vacation!

As always we appreciate your understanding as this allows our doctors and staff to spend much needed time with family and friends after a busy spring! Enjoy your summer! ☀️

It’s hard to believe that spring is just around the corner! We have been helping with calvings like crazy and even though we know you are busy it’s never to early to think about what all you need for spring processing! As always here at Hillsboro Animal Clinic we are eager to help with all of your needs!

✅ We have received our first of a few shipments of Vaccines, Wormer, Fly tags, Implants, and Reproductive supplies! We hope that keeping a good stock in house will make it convenient for our producers!

✅ We are always happy to arrange a time to chat with one of our Doctors about the whys and how’s of different protocols! Building a proper Veterinarian-Client-Patient relationship is a step that will make diagnosing, treating, and solving disease problems in a herd more effective!

✅ We have a knowledgeable staff and excellent facilities to process your herd for you! Low stress and no mess will make for an easy transition to grass!

✅ Don’t forget the importance of getting your bulls prepped for breeding season! Semen tests are an absolute MUST for a successful pregnancy rate in your cows!

Update!!!! We’ve been calling him Sebastian and have kinda gotten attached but he is best with Mama and his two siblings at home! He is going home today a happy boy!

The miracle of bringing life into the world never gets old! This mama had 3 babies! The first was stuck and although is still in critical condition is alive. The second and third babies came out ready to play!

Just the other day Dr. Jess walked in after doing some online CE an announced that her goal was to find a Oral/Nasopharyngeal Polyp in a feline patient! After all these years she has never found one but was determined to check it off her list! Well wouldn’t you know it didn’t take long! This polyp causes a distinct sound when breathing, and can be the root of chronic upper respiratory issues in cats! The procedure (the video) can provide relief almost immediately after removal! Reoccurrence is common but with proper monitoring can be caught quickly! It is always exciting when one of our doctors reaches a goal and performs a successful treatment!

I am anxiously awaiting planning a grand opening as the clinic remodel is almost complete! But for a sneak peak…. This is our second weekend now that we have been re-opened for boarding! We are so happy to offer more kennel space and to provide a loving, CLEAN, and well cared for space for your furry family members to stay while their owners are away! Cats and dogs BIG AND SMALL are welcome! Please don’t hesitate to call to get the up to date scoop on our new and improved boarding facility!!!

Everyone meet Jerry! He found a fish hook and decided to play! The hook found its way through his paw and then Jerry had an itch! The hook then found his thigh! Thank goodness for Jerry’s owners finding him because his front paw was stuck to the inside of his back leg! Fish hooks are a common problem for pets! The problem is the barb because once it goes in the critters tend to pull back “setting” the barb in solid! We handle these with sedation so that we can push the hook through in order to remove it! So here is your friendly reminder to get those hooks back in the tackle box!
