Let’s talk about your horse’s performance and why massage can make a difference. 🤔
First, please talk to your vet if your horse has a lameness issue or to get a baseline.
BUT THEN, if you feel like your horse could be just a little better, is really tense, is not stretching, or chiropractic adjustments aren’t getting the full effect, PLEASE consider a massage.
Your horse is an athlete. Therefore, they use muscles just like we do to complete every task we ask. When one part of their body hurts, they compensate. So if your horse isn’t stretching well, isn’t bending, is struggling with a lead (and your vet has cleared it), it might be time to work on their muscles. 💪🏼
Now, a massage cannot fix poor training, poor shoeing, poor diet, poor tack fit, etc. But massage along with the rest of a good health package can give you a totally different horse.
Here are a few examples that I’ve seen👇🏼
🏇 Performance Hunter horse goes around great but struggles to engage top line, relax, and swaps. The horse vetted clean but their ENTIRE body was sore. It’s improved with a regular massage schedule and other maintenance/management.
🐴 Children’s Hunter horse has consistent back and poll soreness. Along with a new saddle and bridle that both fit much better, massage has helped release the tension from the previous poor fitting tack.
🐎 Junior Hunter horse that is amazing but occasionally stiff. Overall stiffness and tension continues to improve with a regular massage schedule. Owner does homework with stretches in between for a happier, healthier horse.
None of these horses were lame or performing bad by any means but they all have improved physically and mentally with massage maintenance. Send me a DM and we can chat about your horse if you have questions! ✨
