On Monday we had to say goodbye to our Kimber. She was the matriarch of our clan and was responsible for many amazing puppies. Things are certainly different here at the house without here and it sucks.

She was diagnosed with bone cancer in the fall but thanks to her stubbornness she lived seemingly unphased for several months past the vet’s expectations. The end came and it was obvious…but still never easy.

About a month late in sharing Kimber’s birthday treat. We are always thankful for each birthday we get with these dogs - the years go too fast. Kimber is the momma dog who has brought so many amazing puppies and memories to lots of families. She enjoyed her treat and even shared with the others in a game of find it.

Not long ago Wesson celebrated 14 years. Monday we had to say goodbye. It sucked, it’s hard. But we enjoyed every bit with him. He influenced us and our many other dogs.

He is proof to us that their bloodline is something special. Hopefully we can keep it alive!

Wesson made it to 14!!! When that happens he gets the good stuff. His youthful spirit doesn’t match his 14 year old body…but we’re happy he is still trucking along…somehow!

Lots of noise from the growing and hungry pups but now and again it can get quiet thanks to some extra cuddles from mom. Beretta continues to prove herself a wonderful mom and very attentive and loving to them all and maybe a soft spot for the purple female which is how she once started.

Beretta had her puppies a few days ago! We have been busy enough that we forgot to post. 5 boys and 4 girls. All are doing well and growing.

Someone turned 1 today! Happy birthday, R***r! Plus his siblings; Bob and Dixie, from Beretta’s first litter.

Still waiting on confirmation of Beretta being knocked up with her second batch…

Beretta is off with Malachi this week in hopes of making more of these things. Quick math says if all goes as planned there will be puppies between Christmas and New Years!

A 9 year old Kimber managed a cold three hour hunt like a youngster. She just sleeps harder after.

Blue and purple have left the house. “R***r” in the teal collar is sticking around. A litter of 3 was much easier to manage - but maybe a little harder to see off.

It was a long sleepless weekend under the stairs in the garage again...for some reason they insist on whelping there.

Beretta had a small litter of only 3 pups; 2 males, 1 female. Unfortunately we couldn’t fulfill all of the requests this time and all 3 have committed families.

Beretta is adjusting to life as mom...she’s not super crazy about it yet! But everyone seems to be doing well.

We still don’t have confirmation that Beretta is pregnant but hopefully the ice cream craving, fatigue and increased appetite are signs of what we’re hoping for! Should start to see more weight gain soon if that’s the case. Puppies could be on Thanksgiving Day!!!

Beretta was bred a little over a week ago! Hoping it took, in which case she would have pups just before Thanksgiving - we’re targeting 11/24.

She was bred with “Malachi!” An awesome hunter from Dickinson’s Labs. He’s from a Polish bloodline. He has an amazing temperament and carries a big blocky head.

The plague wins another one. We cannot get Beretta bred this time with the obstacles from the shutdowns, etc.

It’s frustrating but we’ll just have to wait for next time. Hopefully September.

Beretta is in heat! Of course it comes as the plague is taking over the country. I have hopes of breeding her but travel restrictions and general exposure risks may prevent that. If we can make the journey we would expect puppies mid-May and going to homes mid-late July.

Wishing all of Kimber's puppies from the second litter a very happy FIRST birthday. We hope that all of the pups are celebrating with a special snack and extra special cuddles:

Beretta (on the right) is in heat. Considering breeding her this time. Pups would be going to homes mid-January. We have a few families interested already - trying to gauge others.

Looking for family/hunting homes with space to run (not apartments), no electric fence usage and active owners that do allow them inside...

Your dogs only get better with age! Wesson (in red) turned 11 yesterday, Smith (with the bird) would have been 11 today. These two are the reason we thought it was a good idea to breed...usually we still think that was a good idea. Now we leave it to the girls to carry on their awesomeness.

The last pup went home today. Thank you to everyone that took one of these monsters, I mean angels, into their home. We know your home will be better for it!

And it’s always sad to see them leave but we are looking forward to a full night’s sleep and getting the house back together.

If we are still crazy enough, Beretta might be ready winter/spring of 2020. Time for a nap.
