We’re proud to officially introduce Hawaii Island Humane Society’s Community Veterinary Care program!

Designed to support the needs of community-owned pets and their people, our program aims to increase access to affordable veterinary care. Our goal is to reduce the barrier of veterinary expenses and create an alternative to shelter surrender. By making veterinary care more financially accessible, we can keep pets healthy and in homes.

Services include:
🩺Free wellness exams
🦟Heartworm tests
🩸FIV/FeLV tests
💉Vaccinations
💊Monthly preventatives for fleas, ticks, and parasites
🥼Treatment for chronic conditions such as ear infections and itchy skin

Prior to now, our program has been operating on a case-by-case basis with the primary goal of serving as an intervention mechanism to prevent pets from being surrendered to the shelter. We are continually seeking more opportunities and support so that we can expand our capacity to help those who need us most.

Please note: Space is limited. Response times may be delayed due to high demand. All services are by appointment only. Services are available in Keaau and Kona. We are unable to offer emergency or same-day appointments. Priority is given to pet owners who are experiencing financial hardships or are otherwise on a reduced/limited income. Available for dogs and cats only. All pets must be able to be safely handled by HIHS staff.
