Can anybody please help? These three dogs were dumped up in Bledsoe County and one of them is very pregnant. They’ve been hanging around these peoples house for a couple of months. We just need help in getting these dogs somewhere safe. They’re all friendly and two of them are small, probably 25 pounds. The mama doesn’t look that big but she is definitely pregnant. Hate to beg, but we are begging. Can somebody please step up and help? Message ETAA if you find it in your heart to want to help these dogs. Thanks!

HELP Poppy needs a foster home by Thursday 6/20

6/18/24 Poppy's eye ruptured. She CANNOT go back to the pound.

Poppy has been in a pound and yesterday her eye ruptured. We/MARC got her to a vet and the eye will have to be removed. It cannot be saved.

But Poppy desperately needs a foster home after having surgery on Wednesday. By Thursday we expect her to be discharged and she CANNOT go back to the pound. Please let her stay with you.

Poppy is very sweet with people and has not shown any issues with other dogs at the pound or with a little dog at the vet.

Poppy seems to be around three years old although she is missing many of her front teeth, and she weighs about 45 pounds. She is up to date on her vaccines and preventatives and will get spayed during her eye surgery if she is not already spayed. Poppy is negative for heart worms and tick borne diseases.

Please say yes.

Semora was just returned as the adopter is having medical issues.

This sweet girl has had a tough go.

Her original owner passed away and she ended up at the shelter. She was adopted and returned because she didn’t get enough decompression time and wasn’t too sure about one of the existing dogs in the home. And this is her third time here 💔

If you’re looking for a nice German Shepherd to adopt, this is your girl! She is fully vetted!

She did not want to go back to the kennel area and was leaning heavily on the tech who walked her back. ☹️

Newborn at home so the dog has to go .
For those who give up their dogs when they have a baby, I'm posting this photo of a family whose 15-year-old Jack Russel Terrier is treated as one of the children (because he was their first child) and who is the protector of his two human brothers and sisters.
Never use the excuse that you had to let your dog go because you have a baby in the family and the doctor advised you blah blah blah and other lame excuses.
Never abandon your pets. They are family 😍

We have a special dog that we'd like to introduce to everyone...

This is Olive. She came into the shelter in October 2023 after being found lying in the middle of the road, near the shelter, unable to walk. She had so much hair loss from what appeared to be years of neglect. She still has some hair loss but looks a lot better!

Today, Olive is doing well ☺️ This sweet girl is older, we think somewhere between 7-8 years old. She is laid back and calm and lays on her bed all day, in her kennel. Olive is a medium size at 45 lbs. She does have some old lady dog lumps and bumps. She also has a tumor at the base of her tail.

Olive is dog friendly! She met the shelter cat and sniffed her but then was easily redirected and showed no aggression.

If you're looking for a calmer dog to just hang out with, Olive would be a perfect fit!

Unfortunately, due to the fact that we are over capacity with more dogs coming in daily and zero interest in Olive, she is now considered 🛟urgent🛟. This is heartbreaking for us to make the difficult decisions required by shelter staff, but we are working to give her every opportunity to find a home/rescue!

We have several nursing moms and kittens with a waiting list of more to come in. We can only house and care for so many at a time which causes a standstill on Intaking other moms and kittens in need.

We are need of cat rescue help! We hate to tell people we don’t have room but our other option is to euthanize for space and there isn’t a single person at this shelter who wants to do that.

If you are a cat rescue and can help, please let us know! Even if you can just take one family, it will help!

If you live in Walker County and need assistance spaying/neutering your cats, please let us help you!

Keep in mind, we are a very small staff and don’t have the resources to trap feral cats. If you have ferals that you are able to trap yourself and are willing to take back after surgery, call us and we will discuss options on how we may be able to assist you.

Three adults and one teenager traveling today to their happy places. We had a little uptick in adoptions this week it seems. Hope this trend continues. Safe travels to everyone! Thank you to our partner, fosters and transporters!!!

Once again, we have over 200 animals in our shelter.
200 animals that deserve a family who loves them and a home of their own.

That number is hard to wrap our minds around because they just keep coming.

We are seeing an astronomical number of fragile, sick and injured kittens and unfortunately, we are having to euthanize a lot of them because they are in bad shape by the time they get to us. This is hard on our team but watching them suffer is even worse.

Please let us help you spay and neuter your pets. We are out of room. Rescues are out of room. Adoptions are extremely low and people are struggling. We know this, we see it every day. We can help you fix your pets so you aren’t adding more to a world where’s there’s no room and no homes.

If you’re considering adoption, please come see us! We still have our protocol in place but adoption fees are waived. Your new best friend will be fully vetted before leaving the shelter!

Come see us!
