Have you met sweet Sente? This precious galgo is crossing his paws that he meets his adopters soon! Sente is a gentle boy who just turned 6 years old and is enjoying all the comforts of being a house dog. He enjoys running and frolicking with his foster brother and sister. Sente is food motivated and loves treats. He also likes car rides and long walks on sunny days. The couch is his sanctuary, and he loves taking naps with a pillow and blankets around him. He takes a moment to warm up to new people but has learned men can be nice to him, too. He’s even made a birthday wish list for a furever home:

[ ] A big fenced in yard (6' privacy fence)
[ ] Friends (at least 1 other dog)
[ ] Food and treats (yum!)
[ ] A comfy couch with pillows and blankets

🐾 Help support galgos, lurchers, greyhounds, and other sighthounds in need this by donating to American Greyhound! 🐾

In November, we brought eight amazing galgos home from Spain 🇪🇸 to start their new lives here in the US 🇺🇸. We couldn’t be more excited for them, but there are so many wonderful dogs still waiting for their chance at the sweet life!

Donations allow us to help more sighthounds have the opportunity to find loving forever homes with a couch to call their own. As an all-volunteer organization, all funds received go directly to support the dogs, helping to pay for vet care, transportation, and other needs.

Whether it is a one-time donation or a recurring monthly contribution, every dollar makes an impact in the lives of these hounds!

Yesterday, American Greyhound welcomed eight new galgos to the US from SOS GALGOS (oficial) in partnership with Daphne Legacy Tour. Over the next few weeks, these amazing dogs will begin to learn to adjust to their new life - one that will be filled with soft dog beds and couches, plentiful food and treats, and an endless amount of love from their adopters. We are grateful to be able to help them begin their next chapter. Please join us in welcoming them to the "sweet life"!

Introducing Shaun! Shaun is four years old and has been available for several months, since coming to the US from Spain in the spring. Although Shaun can be timid around new people, especially men, he is a gentle and playful boy who warms up quickly to those he knows.

This happy boy would make a good family dog, and he has done well with children as well as small dogs and a greyhound in his foster home. He also tested cat safe, and he has become an expert at crating. Once he knows what to expect, he is more confident, so a home where he can have a consistent routine would be best for him. He is easily spooked, so he will need a safe space he can retreat to to decompress. (Right now, he often hides in his foster mom's bedroom when he is scared or overwhelmed.)

Although he is still working on his confidence, Shaun is affectionate and likes to spend time with his foster mom, who says he loves to be petted and follows her everywhere she goes. She said he enjoys playing with toys... as well as pillows, blankets, soft dog beds, and other fluffy things. He'll even take them outside to run around with if she doesn't catch him at the door! His favorite game is when she pretends she's about to chase him in the backyard - then he will get the zoomies and convince his greyhound foster brother to join him in showing off their speed!

Shaun is a sweet boy looking for patient adopters who will understand he needs time to adjust and settle in. Could that be you?

Meet Kurt! Kurt is the life of the party! As you can see in his photos, his current hobbies include modeling the latest in bandana fashion and going for long boat rides on the lake, especially at sunset when he can catch up on his snoozing.

This playful pup is a very social dog and loves to be wherever the action is. He would make a great family dog for older kids. He loves everyone he meets and gets along great with other dogs. He also has impeccable house manners. (Except sometimes when it comes to the kitchen counter, where he likes to check to see if you've left any snacks out for him!)

He would do best in a yard with a 5' or higher privacy fence, where he can get a couple of good zooms in daily. He does have a high prey drive, so he is not cat-safe, and leash walking can be a bit of a challenge. (He's got his paws crossed that his future adopter will have a backyard full of squirrels for him to chase!)

This sweet boy will make a great pet for some lucky family! Will it be yours?

Say hello to Angel! Four-year-old Angel came to the US in June, and originally had some trust issues with men. While still a work in progress, he has already come so far! He warms up quickly to most men now, and even ran up to his foster mom’s (6'3") grandson the other day to ask for attention and pets. However, his trust of men can be situational - for example, Angel has an off-and-on relationship with his foster dad. Sometimes they are friends, and other times Angel barks “non-stop” if his foster dad tries to approach. His adopter will need to be patient as he continues to grow his confidence.

Angel loves to cuddle! When you sit down, this sweetheart will get up from wherever he is to come over and sit not only next to you, but sometimes even on you, especially if room is limited. He does lay on the couch, but is not allowed on beds at his foster home - although he absolutely would climb up on your bed if you let him! Angel has wonderful leash manners and loves to go on walks, but hold on tight if he sees a cat run across your path! He also crates well, and adapted quickly despite being hesitant and unfamiliar with crating when he first arrived.

Angel LOVES to carry stuffed "babies" around with him everywhere he goes and then lay with them under his front legs, so he will definitely need some stuffies in his forever home. He seems to love the companionship of people more than other dogs, so he could do well as an only dog. He would also be fine with most other dogs, as he currently lives with six dogs (including two smaller Hawaiian whippet-mixes) and is submissive to all of them.

If you have a cat-free home, are looking for a “skinny little love muffin” to cuddle with, and you are patient enough to let this beautiful boy explore and get comfortable with your home, Angel may be the perfect dog for you!

Have you met Marino? This sweet boy is four years old, and ready to find his forever-family! Marino’s foster mom describes him as a “spunky little guy” who is still learning to trust humans. His favorite things include morning walks, where he has great leash manners, and running after squirrels and rabbits outside. He doesn’t play with toys, but he does love having a cozy dog bed to curl up in. This cutie is also very fashion-forward, as evidenced by his photos!

Marino is looking for a calm and quiet household with no cats. He will need an adopter who understands he is hesitant around strangers, and especially around men. Although he is shy, Marino is a sweetheart and will make a wonderful friend for an adopter that is willing to be patient as he continues to build his confidence!
