💜💔💜 We would like to take a moment and honor someone we all loved very much at HSH and is gone from our lives far too soon. Tina was a beautiful woman inside and out. She fostered hundreds, maybe thousands, of pets in her lifetime. She was always smiling and willing to take on really tough medical foster cases for HSH. The second chances she gave to so many will never be forgotten. She saved so many lives and brought so much joy to our lives at The Humane Society of Hobart. Her memory and legacy will live on through us. We are so grateful we had this time together...she was undoubtably greeted at the rainbow bridge by the biggest pack of loving pets ever! Memory Eternal Tina...please join us in sending love and support to her family. We will miss her so very much.

❤️‍🩹 Yesterday, a litter of 5 puppies in a severely emaciated state were surrendered to us after being found in a box in a park. Midnight, one of the puppies, required urgent emergency care; however, despite our best efforts, he sadly passed away this evening. We are committed to providing comprehensive care to his littermates, focusing on their nutritional rehabilitation and overall well-being.

💔 While we know they are difficult to look at and read, the accompanying images and narrative serve as a poignant reminder of the importance of education in preventing animal neglect and the crucial role spay/neuter procedures play in saving lives and mitigating unnecessary suffering.

Even on the hard days we find things to be thankful for. We are so appreciative of Cindy from Patient Paws Positive Dog Training for providing Thanksgiving dinner to our homeless pets, including our newest medical girl left in our outside runs overnight. She has a very long road to recovery and any donations towards her care are greatly appreciated.

Meet Macklemore. He was found behind a goodwill thrift store, where many said he has resided for quite some time. He’s a meaty lil bohunk, weighing in at 57lbs of low riding love. Macklemore enjoys singing and uniquely rolls his R’s to entertain staff at the shelter! If you say “How high?” Macklemore will gladly jump into your arms! He has lots of sassy attitude but he’s well mannered and listens super well! He’s potty trained, keeps a clean kennel, and really doesn’t pull on walks. He’s very food motivated and loves salmon jerky treats the most! #BeALifesaver #AdoptMe

About Us

The Humane Society of Hobart, Inc. is a charity registered under IRS 501 (c)(3).

It was founded and received it’s charter in 1954. Before this time, people were struggling to find a solution to the ever increasing number of strays who often met a cruel fate. With no facility to hold stray and abandoned animals, valuable and loved pets were sometimes cruelly mistreated or euthanized because they had wandered from home; strays were often shot in the streets.

The shelter was founded by a group of local citizens on land donated by Bertha Jacoby. The first president, Morris Cox, started a drive to raise funds, supplies, time, labor, and material…anything people were able to give. Through the help of many, the shelter became a reality.

The Society has provided animal control for the City of Hobart since 1957.
