Happy FriYAY!!! So excited to release these little beauties into my garden this morning! I have always been such a lover of these little bugs ever since I was a very small child. I would catch them in the clover fields at school, I would catch them in the springtime out in the field by the park, and now I buy them to eat all of the pests in my garden!! They are the best natural solution to garden pests! I hope that they enjoy their new home and their bellies stay full! 🐞🌱☀️❤️

Not only did I harvest my first official head of broccoli, but I cooked and tried broccoli greens for the first time too! 😍😍😍

I decided to sauté the greens with a tiny bit of bacon fat in a cast iron skillet and added onions garlic salt and pepper. SO DELICIOUS!!

The leaves of the broccoli plant are loaded with calcium and vitamin c! The stalks and the leaves can also be cooked separately or you can chop them up and cook them the same as Swiss chard or kale.

The stalks alone can be substituted for celery and you can eat them raw as a snack! I tried them with peanut butter and raisins and they are so crispy and sweet it was extremely satisfying!

Every part of most plants are edible of you’re just willing to experiment a bit 🥰❤️

So much love and energy put into one of my favorite spaces in our home! There has been so much trial and error to reach this point. Learning how to sow seeds, propagate plants, fertilize, watering regimens and so much more…This has been quite the journey! Looking forward to eating the fruits of my hard work with my family this summer and the memories that follow along with the harvest!
Some plants just weren’t doing well, so I switched them out and moved them around. I planted new ones, sprouted new seeds, and here we are today! A true masterpiece at work❤️❤️❤️

It’s very cold here in Florida! After the last cold front I had to prune so many damaged branches on my plants, and I even lost a few so if you are the plant lover like I am, please if you have not already, bring your plants indoors until Monday!

I was not sure how the cold was going to affect my plants here in Florida but they actually seem to have flourished through the worst of it! It’s a rare occasion to see temperatures in the 30s 🥶 but we did! Brussels and Broccoli 🥦 are looking absolutely gorgeous! 🥬 Kale and lettuces are doing absolutely amazing and even my tomatoes have so many new flower buds it’s unbelievable! I can’t wait to see what all our first spring harvest brings!

Poinsettias are such a unique “flower” in and of themselves❤️❤️❤️

This plant was one that I rescued in January of 2021 just after Christmas when I was walking my dog and one of my neighbors had this sitting on the curb next to their trash to be taken to the dump. The misconception of these beautiful plants is that when all of the leaves fall off, they are dead. In fact, they actually are not! Poinsettias lose all of their “flowers” and they actually grow back. The The flowers are only colorful leaves. The flowers are actually smaller yellow buds at the center of the plant which you might not notice. The leaves start changing colors when those buds appear. These plants can get up to 12 feet tall and there are over 100 varieties. These beautiful plants are popular at Christmas time because in religious belief, the red represents the blood of Jesus Christ and the white poinsettia represents purity during the Christmas season. If you are considering throwing your plant away, please don’t! Put it in a bigger pot, give it some fertilizer and some extra dirt and keep it for years to come!

Let’s talk Lemon Balm 🍋

There are so many fantastic uses for lemon balm! This beautiful and fragrant herb makes a soothing tea perfect for unwinding after a stressful day. Lemon balm uses include promoting sleep, alleviating anxiety, soothing digestive issues, treating itchy insect bites, and much more.

Lemon balm is used to attract good energy in a very general sense, and also attracts honey bees!

This herb is frequently used in mixtures for love and fertility. In some traditions, it’s also used for money and abundance.

Growing or sprinkling lemon balm near the front door is said to keep away evil spirits.

It’s also frequently used for calming and relaxation. For this reason, it’s also considered a useful herb for healing magic and to develop one’s psychic abilities.

Lemon balm is ruled by the Moon or Neptune, and the element of water. According to Culpepper, it’s an herb of Jupiter.

Someone following my page once called this an “over glorified weed” but the truth in fact is that this succulent herb has many benefits.

Consider this if you are someone suffering from one of those icky coughs that just won’t go away, you can’t breathe from your own nose, and you feel just downright miserable….

Coughs and sore throats: The leaves are commonly used in India and Southeast Asia to treat coughs. It is known to be an effective expectorant. The simplest method is to chew a leaf. You can also make tea by boiling the leaves in water (in the Caribbean, they add honey to the tea). You can also pound the leaves and mix them with a little water.

Blocked nose: Rub the leaves, and inhale the v***r.

Burns, sores, insect bites and stings, and skin conditions such as eczema: Pound the leaves to a pulp, and then apply as a poultice.

Dandruff: Wash hair with an infusion of the leaves (the infusion can also be used to rinse your clothes).

Garlic 🧄 has officially sprouted!

Garlic (Allium sativum) is an extremely popular garden plant because of its use for flavoring dishes, as well as its ease of care and growth. It is traditionally planted in autumn and harvested in mid-summer. This plant is also called the stinking rose, and it is useful as an insect repellent in gardens. Garlic is important to Korean creation myths, and is believed to ward off vampires and other spirits in European folklore.

Thanks to its deep taproots, Garlic doesn't usually need loads of water to thrive, but consistent moisture will certainly help them grow bigger. In the spring and summer, when the top 1 inch of soil is dry, give it a good drink. Reduce watering once the foliage starts to turn yellow, as they will be mostly mature and might get diseased.
