Back in Burnsville NC today as we continue the search for missing. Kites nose has been requested in the Bat Cave area tomorrow so I guess we will take a little ride down there.
Also Kite has a new sister that is a Dutch Shepherd so everyone meet Echo. She was solid as a rock on the pile of debris!

Day 15 and after a day of searching I headed home so I could see my beautiful girl Karsyn. Monday I will head back up there to check more areas in Burnsville and possibly move a little further south to check some other areas over the next while.
Sunday will be a day for Kite to play or rest whichever she decides.

Day 8 in the ruins with Kite doing Kite stuff. So many amazing people have stepped us to help us out with a lot of heavy machinery and others with just their hands but these piles are massive and ALL help is appreciated big or small! We have met some amazing people.

Day Nine of searching. We have made a big dent in one of the debris piles. Our canines have worked very hard and so Good!
A huge Thank you to Bobby Grogan for bringing up some stuff that I needed from home today. My boots are on the dryer now.
We covered another large area without alerts today which is good but so much more to do.
I can’t begin to tell y’all how great so many people have been. It has truly been amazing and a Blessing!
Thank you Allie Bakerfor delivering the puppy tomorrow so Kite and I can stay longer and continue searching for the missing.

Day 10 and we are making slow but steady progress. We are down to just Kite as our HRD Canine now and it was super tough on two.
We have some big equipment coming in tomorrow so hopefully we will go a little faster being able to move the huge stuff with ease. Thank you to everyone that has came out to help in whatever way possible because without you it would not be possible.
I have met some amazing people up here these 11 days that I have been up here so far.

Day 11 on the piles of debris in Burnsville, NC. We made great progress today and it was not a good day with it being cold and drizzling pretty much all day. We have some great folks out there making it happen though!
A huge Thank you to everyone that has came out and helped. We have had so many people bring in their excavators, skid steers, chain saws and their hands to accomplish these goals.
I heard today that there were over 200 still missing and I read that the number was 1000+. I don’t know that anyone really knows what the true number is.
I was able to get a few pics of a different area here as the Yancey Sheriffs Office requested Kite and I check an area for them on a different river than what we have been working but as you can see the destruction is to almost every creek, stream and river. Peoples gardens and corn fields just wiped out before they had a chance to harvest and the corn already sprouting back up.
Lastly I have one tired girl tonight.
Again I can’t say Thank you enough to everyone that is helping out in anyway!

Day 12 of working the rubble pile in Burnsville, NC. Kite was awesome to be the only canine working this new but she handled it beautifully and got lots of love and snuggles!!!

Day 13 of searching for the missing in NC. Kite is the only HRD canine we have now and she has handled these last two days by herself like the beast she is.
So much more to be searched though!

Day 14 of searching for the missing in Western NC. Tomorrow we go home for a day or two after we check the area we have been working. I was planning on staying only one week which turned into just over two weeks and it will take much longer than that so possibly Kite and I will return Monday.

Another piece of ankle bone that was put out over a month ago. So long I was not sure where I had put it. But it has been out there through a lot of weather changes and rain.

A little HRD training with Kite this evening using very fresh source in this one followed by moving straight into very stinky elevated source and then to just ankle bone that had been out there untouched for over a month.

Kite doing a little night training on about 20 ounces of human blood I poured on the ground at the end and against the post the night before. We had a little rain shower during the day before her training.

AKC Anatolians from the best working genetics! Why was your 💲on mix breeds that may or may not kill and not protect your livestock. The thing with unregistered is you do not know exactly what breeds are in the genetic makeup of them so there is a risk of putting something with your livestock that was bred to do the complete opposite of what you are looking for.
We have owned anatolians for over 20 years.

Let's talk about this photo. It's cute, except it's not. I see a dog who cannot get up without telling the child to get off. How do you think a dog is going to do that?

The 7 Golden Toddler Dog Rules:
#1: If a dog walks away from you, you DO NOT FOLLOW.
#2: Always leave room for the dog to walk away from you.
---that right there is 90+% of dog bites eliminated---
#3: We do not climb on the dog.
#4: We do not grab or pull on the dog.
#5: We do not hit or throw anything at the dog.
#6: We do not touch the dog's food.
#7: We do not go into the dog's kennel.

I promise these are not overly difficult concepts for littles, nor will they rob a kid of their bond with the family dog. It will deepen that bond, while keeping everyone safe.
