Our senior taste-tester keeping me company while I bake on that rainy day; playing fetching games in-between batches. His name is Okwari (oh-gwa-lee) and it means “bear” in Mohawk. He will be 14 in two months and acts like a puppy when food and treats are involved.

If you are walking your dog in the country you already know about the risk of encountering Poison Ivy. I was aware of the possibility and was making sure not to touch it but I still got it! If I caught it, can my dogs get it too? I want to share my story so more dog walkers will be spared the agony....

We have decided to cancel the fun dog show tomorrow due to the flooding in all the area. We hope everyone stays safe and gets through the flooding safely and without much loss. We will postpone the event to a later date. Stay safe everyone!

For Akwesasne community members.

Since we missed last month pet food pantry, we are having a pet food giveaway in Tsi Snaihne District tomorrow, Tuesday August 6th. Same rules apply as always its just in a new location. Niawen Snye Recreation for allowing us to distribute pet food to members in need!

This local business is helping kitties, donate if you can; no amount is too small.

Our goal for this month, instead of purchasing pet food, is to raise at least $125 to sponsor a cat/kitten adoption at Friends 4 Pound Paws Inc. Rescue . This allows an approved applicant to adopt a cat/kitten free of charge. We adopted two of our cats through a sponsorship program with them last summer. Two beautiful cats that are so appreciative of having a home of their own. The rescues are overflowing with animals and cant take in anymore until they find homes for the ones they have. We are $32 into our $125 goal in just 4 days and that's just the donations in the jar!! MAYBE, we can sponsor TWO cats at this rate!! Let's help give a couple of kitties a new life!! By purchasing books we donate 10% of every book sale to the rescues and the books have been flying out of here this week! OR you can donate directly to them, or we accept Venmo, cash or check and you can be part of the sponsorship!! Let's help this awesome rescue place some kitties!!

Thank you to new and repeat customers who stopped at our table at the Waddington Homecoming craft show on August 3rd. My heart is full after spending the day with perfect breezy weather connecting with wonderful people and their pets. I am grateful.
This is me after hauling all my stuff at the end of the day. I can skip training today after all that lifting 🤗

Please donate to this non-profit that will help low-income pet owners families in our area. I met Andrew and Matthew, owners of Saranac Mountain Hearth, at numerous vendor events and they are wonderful people dedicated to help animals.

Andrew and I (Matthew), your neighborhood "soap guys" have taken the first steps to start a nonprofit charity organization that's dedicated to helping low-income families in Clinton, Essex, and Franklin Counties of New York afford veterinary care for their beloved pets.
And we need your help raising money to move forward. Our nonprofit, Northern Adirondack Pet Fund, Inc., is officially registered with NYS, but we have a big hurdle to climb to register for 501(c)(3) status with the Federal government, purchase start up materials, and build our pet fund.
